The most wonderful time of the year is almost upon us: not Christmas, not Thanksgiving, but pure winter. It’s the season for giving, for reflecting, but also, most importantly, for cozying the heck up. Pretending to be friends with the weather is over, deciding on your chosen theater based on their level of AC is in the past, finding peace with your own TV setup is the name of the game.
It’s the time to give thanks for the colder weather, actually, because it allows us, as cinephiles, to thrive in our natural habitat: in front of the big screen, the outdoor world very much staying exactly that, something that has no bearing on all the movies piling up to see us through winter.
And so, to celebrate, we’ve partnered with Free People and gone through the archives to pick out twenty films that celebrate this time of year, specifically across key fashion moments to inspire what we’ll be wearing to stay warm for the next little while. We’ve got turtlenecks, we’ve got beanies, we’ve got cashmere cardis, and we, of course, have got Cate Blanchett’s irreplaceable fur coat. Watchlists ready, kettle on.
