Twitch streamer Kai Cenat surpasses 342,000 subscribers

At around 11:16 p.m. EST on Monday, Cenat blew past the record of 326,252 subs on Ironmouse’s channel. His current subscriber count — which stands at more than 342,000 at the time of writing — is still climbing more than 12 hours after he broke the record. At the time of writing, Cenat is still livestreaming his Mafiathon 2 event — a 30-day 24/7 livestream — and just woke up from sleep.

After Cenat lost his crown to Ironmouse in September, he quickly organized a follow-up to his popular Mafiathon event as a way to win it back. Mafiathon 2 kicked off on Nov. 1 as a month-long 24/7 feed for fans to keep up with the streamer’s antics and, more importantly, make the live-updated, always-present subscriber count on the screen go up. Tragedy struck early on when Cenat’s home was swatted and Twitch briefly banned his channel, but the hiccup did little to curb the enthusiasm of his voracious fanbase.

As reported by Dexerto, the stream has featured TikTok creator NPC Miles Morales taking the reins while Cenat slept, a faux wedding, a tour of Snoop Dogg’s Los Angeles mansion, a video call with Serena Williams (facilitated by McDonald’s, for some reason), new music from former Migos frontperson Quavo, and appearances by a rotating cast of musicians like Kodak Black, GloRilla, and DDG over the last two weeks. At one point, former iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove showed up to support.

Cenat and Ironmouse have seemingly remained friendly while trading subscriber records. After Ironmouse broke the record, Cenat congratulated the Vtuber while promising to make a comeback. Ironmouse responded during a Rolling Stone interview, saying, “Records are meant to be broken. I think it’s incredible and amazing if he comes back and he breaks it, because you just have to keep moving on and moving forward. I think it’s amazing for his community; it’s amazing for the streaming community as a whole.”

In regards to this latest development, Ironmouse joked about the possibility of Cenat reaching 1 million subscribers during the month-long Mafiathon 2 livestream.

Both streamers have used their record-breaking streams to raise money for humanitarian causes. Ironmouse broke the record during a fundraiser for the Immune Deficiency Foundation, and 20% of the money raised on Cenat’s ongoing stream will go toward opening a school in Nigeria.
