Two cultural festivals are happening at an iconic Toronto food market this month

1 August 20252 Mins Read

Festival incoming! There’s still plenty of summer time fun left in Toronto this August, and these two cultural events are the perfect example of that. The St. Lawrence Market, known for its farmers market, artisanal products, and local events, is hosting two foodie festivals this month — Taste the Caribbean Food Festival and Taste of Greece.

Come hungry because these festivals will surely be pumping out delicious and authentic plates, and get ready to visit these beautiful destinations right here in the city.

What to know

Taste of Greece is on from Aug. 15 to 17, and features classic Greek cuisine, live music, and even performances. Live like the Greeks with a delicious, savoury gyros or sweet loukomades, a traditional dessert of fried honey balls.

Dance to the sounds of the Greek bouzouki while you chow down and escape to the Mediterranean island, a perfect summer activity for all.

Taste of Greece will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Once you’ve got your fill, stick around for the Taste the Caribbean Food Festival, which returns to the market on Sunday, Aug. 3 and 31. Explore the food, drinks, and music from the islands of Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Guyana, St. Lucia, and more.

Now in its third year, Taste the Caribbean is a family-friendly event that includes local vendors, chefs, performers, and caterers that’ll transport you away to a beautiful island experience — all without leaving the city.

We’re talking jerk chicken, patties, roti, hot sauces, fresh coconut juice, fried plantain, corn soup, steel drum performances, and way, way more. You can’t get any more island vibes than at Taste the Caribbean Food Festival.

The open-air fest will take place along Market Street from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free to attend.

Who’s ready to party? Enjoy the last bit of Toronto summer with Taste of Greece and Taste the Caribbean Food Festival at the St. Lawrence Market.
