Two of Toronto’s biggest markets are taking over an abandoned store for a day

16 June 20253 Mins Read

Two of Toronto’s biggest markets have teamed up to take over the abandoned Anthropologie store on Queen Street for an entire day. Hippie Market and the Welcome Market are collaborating for the first time, and here’s what to know.

The beloved markets are joining forces for one day only on June 14, 2025, for a day of shopping and supporting local. The two will transform the 7,000-square-foot space at 791 Queen St. W., featuring some of Toronto’s best vendors.

How did this come to be?

Kealan Sullivan, founder and organizer of the Hippie Market, was invited to help bring a vacant, historic two-storey space back to life. Their solution was to fill it with local businesses, turning the space into a vibrant marketplace that supports the community. To expand its reach and support more local vendors, Hippie Market reached out to the Welcome Market to bring this plan to life.

Both markets share a similar model, bringing together vintage resellers and local artisans under one roof. Their collaboration was a natural fit, allowing them to create a more inclusive space for both vendors and customers while showcasing a diverse mix of small businesses.

“We are thrilled to bring this one-of-a-kind collab to the vibrant streets of Queen West,” shared Cindy Chau, founder of the Welcome Market.

What to expect

The one-day market will house over 50 diverse local businesses. Expect offerings from vintage, handmade and curated goods to art installations that showcase local talent.

“The markets we operate are keystones in the evolution and growth of small business in our city. This event is the ultimate opportunity to celebrate our culture and community,” shared Kealan Sullivan, Founder of Hippie Market Life.

The thrilling shopping experience will take place on June 21, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Don’t miss out on this special market this month.
