23.234 million in December 2024, up 7 percent compared to December 2023, with enplanements reaching 110.1 percent of pre-pandemic December 2019 volume.
Originating Non-Stop Air Travel in December 2024
- Non-U.S. citizen air passenger arrivals to the United States from foreign countries totaled:

5.432 million in December 2024, up 3.9 percent compared to December 2023.

This represents 5 percent of pre-pandemic December 2019 volume.

On a related note, overseas visitor arrivals2 totaled 3.249 million in December 2024, which reached 93.2 percent of pre-pandemic December 2019 volume, up from 88 percent in November 2024.
- U.S. citizen air passenger departures from the United States to foreign countries totaled:
- 6.642 million in December 2024, up 7.9 percent compared to December 2023.
- This exceeded December 2019 volume by 26.3 percent.
World Region Highlights in December 2024 (APIS/I-92 arrivals + departures)
- Total air passenger travel (arrivals and departures) between the United States and other countries were led by Mexico 4.002 million, Canada 2.717 million, the United Kingdom 1.665 million, the Dominican Republic 931,000, and Germany 891,000.
- International Regional air travel to/from the United States:
- Europe totaled 5.588 million passengers, up 6.1 percent over December 2023, and up (+3.3 percent) compared to December 2019.
- (U.S citizen departures were up +19.8 percent compared to December 2019, while European citizen arrivals were down -10.4 percent.)
- South/Central America/Caribbean totaled 6.285 million, up 6 percent over December 2023, and up 24.2 percent compared to December 2019.
- Asia totaled 2.607 million passengers, up 11.7 percent over December 2023, but down (-21.7 percent) compared to December 2019.
- (Asian citizen arrivals to the U.S. were down -34.7 percent compared to December 2019, and U.S. citizen departures were up +5.1 percent.)
- Europe totaled 5.588 million passengers, up 6.1 percent over December 2023, and up (+3.3 percent) compared to December 2019.
- Top U.S. Ports serving international locations were New York (JFK) 2.986 million, Miami (MIA) 2.358 million, Los Angeles (LAX) 2.068 million, San Francisco (SFO) 1.349 million, and Atlanta (ATL) 1.292 million.
- Top Foreign Ports serving U.S. locations were London Heathrow (LHR) 1.509 million, Toronto (YYZ) 1.124 million, Cancun (CUN) 1.123 million, Mexico City (MEX) 862,000, and Paris (CDG) 664,000.
