U.S. Hotel Industry Faces Mixed Results for Week Ending 13 December

  • Washington, D.C. saw notable decreases, with ADR dropping 12.9% to $172.40 and RevPAR falling 24.2% to $115.92. – Image Credit Unsplash

  • New Orleans and Washington, D.C. experience significant declines in hotel metrics.
  • Tampa records the largest drop in occupancy among major U.S. markets.

The U.S. hotel industry experienced varied performance as reported by CoStar for the week ending December 13, 2025. CoStar highlighted fluctuations in key hotel metrics compared to the same period in 2024.

During the week of December 7-13, 2025, the industry saw a slight decrease in occupancy, which fell to 58.6%, marking a 1.6% decline from the previous year. The average daily rate (ADR) increased modestly by 0.4% to $156.46. However, revenue per available room (RevPAR) dipped by 1.1% to $91.76.

Among the top 25 U.S. hotel markets, New Orleans faced the most significant challenges. The city reported an 18.3% drop in ADR to $146.70 and a 29.9% decrease in RevPAR to $83.92. This downturn was attributed mainly to comparisons with the previous year’s Society of Health-System Pharmacists Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition, which had boosted hotel performance in 2024.

Tampa experienced the most significant decline in occupancy, falling 14.3% to 72.6%. Meanwhile, Washington, D.C. also saw notable decreases, with ADR dropping 12.9% to $172.40 and RevPAR falling 24.2% to $115.92.

These mixed results underscore the ongoing challenges and shifts within the U.S. hotel industry as it navigates fluctuating demand and market conditions.
