As the 2025 edition of the legendary Tour de France is set to start on July 5th, Netflix unveiled the trailer for season 3 of its popular docuseries Tour de France : Unchained. Here are all the details we know about the upcoming final series.
As preparation of the 2025 edition of the Tour de France got underway, major French media such as Le Parisien reported a few months ago in February that the docuseries following the teams around the trail would not be following the new edition, and would come to a close. The production companies, Box To Box and Quad, did not comment on the record, as well as Netflix, but a source explained to Le Parisien that “for Netflix, getting fresh takes every year was getting hard. It’s a very repetitive race: bus, race, bus, sleep… And with Pogacar getting ahead of the competition, it is harder to maintain suspense”.
This week, the first footage from the series somewhat echoed that sentiment, with trainers and team owners admitting candidly that “the best teams have the best cyclists, so it is getting tough”. The eight episodes of the third season are set to release on July 2nd. Netflix also labels the new season as the final season in the app.
The (non-definitive) list of teams and cyclists followed for season 3 includes :
- Tadej Pogacar and the UAE team
- Jonas Vingegaard & Wout van Aert (Visma team)
- Soudal Quickstep and Remco Evenepoel
- Red Bull Bora and Primož Roglič
- FDJ
- Decathlon AG2R with Julien Jurdie, Vincent Lavenu
- Intermarché Wanty with Biniam Girmay
- TotalEnergies with Anthony Turgis
- Arkéa-B&B Hotels with Kévin Vauquelin
- Romain Bardet
- EF Education First with Richard Carapaz
- Astana and Mark Cavendish
- Alpecin with Jasper Philipsen & Mathieu van der Poel.

Does it mean that Netflix is pulling back on cycling docuseries? Probably not. According to Le Parisien, the French streamer is possibly mulling a deal to do a version of Unchained with the Women’s Cycling Championship, possibly with the Tour de France.
