Valerie Bertinelli’s ’70s ‘One Day at a Time’-Era Photo Has Fans Saying the Same Thing

19 December 20253 Mins Read

Valerie Bertinelli, the actress known for starring in hit sitcoms like One Day at a Time and Hot in Cleveland, took a trip down memory lane on Dec. 19, sharing a major throwback snap from 1976, shortly after One Day at a Time started airing.

In the snap, when Bertinelli was about 16 years old, she proudly posed with her hands on her hips, standing in a field of flowers. She wore jeans, a dark-colored top, and a patterned kimono-style shirt on top. Her brown hair, parted in the middle, flowed down her back.

Sharing a bit of the backstory, Bertinelli wrote alongside the photo, “flashback 1976 one of my first major solo photo sessions after getting the part that changed my life on One Day at a Time. 💗 I think we were in a field not far from where I lived in the north San Fernando Valley.”

“Wearing all my own clothes and I think I still have that kimono top somewhere. Boy did I love that top, wore it all. the. time,” she added, talking about the stylish outfit.

Fans loved getting to see the old photo, bringing back memories of decades ago as they shared appreciation for Bertinelli and One Day at a Time. The sitcom premiered in 1975, and it aired for nine seasons, ending in 1984.

One of the first things people commented on was the 65-year-old’s hair, writing, “Your hair looks just as fabulous now as it did back then!” and “Such gorgeous hair!! I was always so envious of your hair!! And it was REAL! Back in the days before hair extensions! Lol.”

Fans Couldn’t Get Over Bertinelli’s Eternal Good Looks

But there was one message that was repeated throughout the replies from Bertinelli’s fans, and that was that she looks just as beautiful now as she did back then, with a flood of praise for her ageless beauty.

Such comments included, “Still just as beautiful,” “Always a stunner,” “Cute then cute now,” and “Still look the same to me, ya done good young lady.”

“You’ve been perfect all of your life,” said another, while someone else enthusiastically responded, “One of the most beautiful pics of you, Valerie! Even today, you are still just as BEAUTIFUL.”

Others Complimented the Sitcom Star’s Stylish Top

While the compliments continued, some fans pointed out another ageless aspect of the photo, and that was the stylish kimono top.

“Hard to top that top,” exclaimed a fan of the fashion, as others demanded she find it and wear it again, saying, “And I bet you will still look gorgeous in it! Find that pretty top!” and “Hopefully you can find the top and have another picture taken!”

Fans noted that the 1970s style is “right back in fashion,” telling Bertinelli, “You could indeed put those same clothes on today and be totally in style! Our decade of the 70s will live on forever!!”

With any luck, Bertinelli will be able to find the shirt and possibly recreate the iconic picture for fans.
