Vancouver-filmed ‘Yellowjackets’ renewed for another season and here’s what we know so far

20 May 20253 Mins Read

Yellowjackets fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief: the show has officially been renewed for a fourth season, and there’s already talk of what’s to come for our favourite teenage cannibals.

Announced by Paramount+ on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, the renewal comes over a month after the release of the jaw-dropping season 3 finale, the most-streamed episode in the series’ history.

With the identities of “pit girl” and the “antler queen” revealed, and the near-literal cliffhanger of an ending we had with Natalie (Sophie Thatcher), viewers were left gobsmacked as the plot reached its satisfying “full circle” moment, as per the episode’s title. The only question now is how long audiences will wait for the next instalment of the thrilling series.

The most-watched season in Yellowjackets history

“Yellowjackets has become a cultural juggernaut,” says Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount Global and president of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios. “Ashley and Bart have masterfully crafted an utterly singular, genre-defying phenomenon: a perfect alchemy of psychological horror, survival thriller and coming-of-age drama that continues to captivate audiences worldwide, brought to life by our extraordinarily talented and beloved cast.”

Filming locations in Greater Vancouver

Like the seasons that came before it, season 3 was largely filmed in and around Vancouver. According to Creative B.C., the season featured iconic locations across Greater Vancouver, including Burnaby Mountain, Surrey, Langley, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Squamish, and Harrison Peak.

In season 2, Camp Howdy in Belcarra was used as the site of Lottie’s cult, Camp Green Pine.

Cast and info

Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of talented high school soccer players who become the survivors of a plane crash in the remote Canadian wilderness. The third season marks the most-watched season to date, and stars Emmy nominees Melanie Lynskey (adult Shauna), Christina Ricci (adult Misty), and Lauren Ambrose (adult Van), as well as Tawny Cypress (adult Tai) and Simone Kessell (adult Lottie).

In the teenage timeline, the show stars Sophie Nélisse (teen Shauna), Jasmin Savoy Brown (teen Tai), Sophie Thatcher (teen Natalie), Samantha Hanratty (teen Misty), Courtney Eaton (teen Lottie), Liv Hewson (teen Van), Steven Krueger (Coach Ben), and Kevin Alves (teen Travis).

The show also features Warren Kole as Jeff and Sarah Desjardins as Shauna’s daughter, Callie.

While Elijah Wood (Walter) has had a recurring role and Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank (adult Melissa) appeared in the third season as a guest star, we’ll have to see if the two return to our screens next season.

Paramount+ notes that production dates will be announced shortly, so stay tuned for all things Yellowjackets as it comes, including more details about possible filming locations in B.C.
