Vancouver Maritime Museum to host a dazzling masquerade party during the Honda Celebration of Light

10 June 20253 Mins Read

The Honda Celebration of Light is one of the most highly anticipated events of the summer, and it looks like the Vancouver Maritime Museum is marking the occasion with a dazzling night for a great cause. The annual fundraising party will bring together gourmet food and drink, a live auction, and live entertainment for a special Maritime Masquerade that you won’t want to miss.

“The fundraiser is more than a scintillating evening with amazing food, delicious beverages, fabulous entertainment, and fireworks,” explains executive director David Jordan. “It’s a vital gathering where support for the Vancouver Maritime Museum ensures that the legacy of our seafaring heritage is preserved, shared, and celebrated for generations to come.”

Last year’s theme was an ’80s party, and this year’s fundraiser is following suit with awards for the best-dressed, this time for its masquerade theme.

Unobstructed views of English Bay fireworks

Set on the museum terrace with unobstructed views of English Bay, this event is a great opportunity to get dolled up, don a mask, and take in what is sure to be a spectacular display of fireworks. As the world’s longest-running pyrotechnic competition, it doesn’t get much better than the Honda Celebration of Light, and the museum allows you to take the experience to the next level.

According to organizers, guests are encouraged to dress in ocean-inspired attire such as captain’s hats, sailor stripes, and mermaid costumes. The event will feature bites from Emelle’s Catering, including food stations and canapés on arrival. Guests can also sip on expertly crafted sips from Bruinwood Estate Distillery and Parallel 49.

Live performances & an auction

In terms of activations, masquerade-goers will have the chance to take part in a themed scavenger hunt, dance along to live music, and participate in an exciting live auction.

Roving performers will keep the energy high throughout the night, as will the flowing conversations you’ll have with fellow community members and industry leaders.

“Enjoy comfortable seating areas, alongside plenty of open space to mix and mingle with fellow guests or dance the night away,” says the museum.

Funds raised during the event will keep the museum’s educational, community, and reconciliation-focused programs accessible to all.

Get ready to enjoy the iconic fireworks show in a whole new way.

When: Wednesday, July 23, 2025
Time: 7 to 11 p.m
