The Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel, a heritage palace designed by Baron Theophil Edvard von Hansen, has been renovated and revitalised, marking Anantara’s first official entry into Austria.
The Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel, originally constructed for the 1873 World’s Fair, has been transformed into a premier urban luxury resort in the Austrian capital. The building served various functions over the years and is a prime example of Viennese Neo-Renaissance architecture.
Contemporary Renovations and Amenities
The renovation has modernised the hotel’s 152 rooms and suites, incorporating luxurious touches such as marble bathrooms, Acqua di Parma amenities, and triple-glazing for quiet and uninterrupted rest. The rooms’ design maximises natural light and gives a sense of spaciousness with 3.5-metre ceilings and oversized windows.
Exclusive Accommodations
The hotel’s Presidential Suite, the largest in Vienna at 270 square metres, offers seven French balconies, a lounge, a dining area, and a wellness space. It can be expanded to four bedrooms, reaching 408 square metres upon request.
Culinary Experiences
The hotel’s gastronomic offerings range from the Michelin-starred Edvard, where head chef Paul Gamauf presents avant-garde cuisine, to Theo’s Lounge & Bar, which offers locally-inspired cocktails and weekly events. The recently launched Brasserie Sophie reimagines Austrian cuisine through a global lens.
Wellness and Fitness Facilities
The 800-square-metre Anantara Spa offers a range of wellness therapies and treatments, with facilities such as a Finnish sauna, a Hammam-style steam bath and a solarium. The hotel also features a fitness centre and jogging routes along the Danube Canal and the Ringstrasse.
Cultural and Historical Experiences
Guests can join a tour with a Hansen expert and visit the atelier Lobmeyr, where decorative art for Hansen’s palaces was once made. The hotel also offers cooking classes focusing on local classics.
Event Spaces
The hotel features Vienna’s largest ballroom, which can accommodate up to 265 guests, and eight additional meeting spaces, making it ideal for weddings, conferences, and private events.
The Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel is located in Vienna’s historic financial district, a 25-minute drive from Vienna International Airport. Room rates start at EUR 550 per night for a Deluxe Room based on two people sharing, including breakfast.
