It’s a cake party and you’re invited, Toronto!
That’s right, those viral cake picnics you’ve seen documented in New York City and San Fran are finally coming up north, and it’s guaranteed to be a sweet time.
Launching last year, the viral Cake Picnic tour is truly what dreams are made of. First up, bake and decorate a beautiful cake to your heart’s desire, then bring it to the picnic, and finally, enjoy a big gathering with delicious treats.
To keep that party going in Toronto, famed baking school Le Dolci Culinary Classroom has decided to throw the city’s first-ever cake picnic, and it’s happening on Saturday, May 24 at the West Toronto Railpath.
The rules are simple: guests arrive with their cakes displayed and are given a box. Once the cake bell sounds, you’ll have a limited amount of time to fit as many slices in their box. After that, it’s all about getting cozy with friends and tucking in for a cake-a-licious bite under the bright blue sky.
Whether you prefer a spongy chiffon cake, a fluffy angel food, or just a good ‘ol regular chocolate layer cake, there’s something for everyone to try.
Tickets for this scrumptious soiree are $10, and there is one rule all cake picnic-goers must adhere to: a six-inch (or larger) cake must be brought.
Since announcing the Toronto cake picnic, the hype has been so huge that Le Dolci is preparing for a second event. “We hope this first event shows us all the power of kindness, cake and love for every one of us in the cake community that attends,” reads a recent Le Dolce social media post.
Get ready for some cake time, Toronto.
