The start of the New Year inspired us to make some major changes to our homes. We’re decluttering, reorganizing, and making room for the statement furniture pieces we’ve had on our wishlists. Hundreds of Walmart shoppers have ordered this Better Homes & Gardens’ Etagere Bookcase to upgrade their spaces this year, and now we have our sights set on it too.
Right now this shelving unit is on sale for only $88, and despite its low price, shoppers say it “looks very expensive.” In fact, we found a designer bookcase that’s virtually identical to our Walmart find, but it’ll cost you close to 14 times the price.
Better Homes & Gardens 71-Inch Nola 5-Shelf Etagere Bookcase, $88 (was $128) at Walmart
This bookcase boasts a vintage mid-century modern design that’s both trendy and timeless. It features a 71-inch tall gleaming gold metal frame with a gorgeous pagoda-style curved top. It comes with five glass bases that create evenly-tiered shelves, and shoppers say each layer is “sturdy and well made.” While the design is pretty pared-down and simple, the combination of the transparent shelves and bright gold frame highlight just how stunning this bookcase is. But if gold doesn’t fit with your home’s existing décor, you can also pick it up in a black version that’s just as fabulous!
While the bookcase is large in stature, it doesn’t take up much surface area. It’s about 14 inches wide and 30 inches long, which makes it easier to fit into tighter spaces. You can use it as a traditional bookshelf, but it also makes an excellent display case for trinkets and collectible items you want to show off. You can even add it to your vanity area to store your skincare, makeup and jewelry!

There are multiple uses for this bookcase, but what hundreds of shoppers agree on is that it’ll add an “elegant” and “fancy” touch to any home. It “definitely doesn’t look like I bought it from Walmart” says one reviewer, and another says it “looks high end without the cost.” If we set up the bookcase next to this Ballard Designs version that’s nearly 14 times as expensive, we wouldn’t be able to tell which is which.
Silvia Wide Étagère, $1,124 (was $1,499) at Ballard Designs
This Better Homes & Gardens’ Etagere Bookcase brings a serious level of luxury to the table, and for only $88 it’s such a bargain! Shoppers say they haven’t found a piece as “beautiful” as this piece at a comparable price point, and we think it’s the perfect way to upgrade your home for 2025.
