Hotter days and warmer nights are just around the corner, and there’s never been a better time to explore the beautiful country we live in, especially if you live in Edmonton.
This week, WestJet announced that it would be adding two non-stop flights from the Edmonton International Airport for the summer, and you’ll want to start packing sooner rather than later.
WestJet’s non-stop seasonal service
Hoping to visit a friend, family member, or significant other in Kamloops or Prince George? You’re in luck, because this July, you’ll be able to travel twice per week until temperatures begin to drop.
“Restoring service to Kamloops and introducing service to Prince George is a direct reflection of Canadians’ interest in exploring their own backyard this summer,” said John Weatherill, WestJet executive vice-president and chief commercial officer, in a press release.
“With more flights and more seats in key Western Canadian markets, we’re giving Canadians better access to the destinations they rely on for business, leisure and visiting loved ones.”
If you’re interested in boarding their De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft, you can snag a spot on their inaugural flights (July 5 to Prince George and July 6 to Kamloops), but don’t stop there.
Those who are hoping to really explore this summer will now have even more options if Nanaimo or Yellowknife is on their hit list just before KDays.
In two months, the Alberta-born carrier will also double its seating capacity to the beautiful B.C. destination and offer service to the beautiful city in Canada’s Northwest Territories twice weekly.
“We’re pleased to see this increased investment in connectivity between Yellowknife and Edmonton,” added Randy Straker, regional airport manager of Yellowknife Airport.
“The move to add additional capacity reflects growing demand in our region and strengthens an essential link for business, tourism, and northern communities. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership and welcoming more travellers to and from YZF.”
How to book
Anyone ready to book can do so easily via WestJet’s website.
In fact, if you book between now and May 23, you can save on tickets to cities across Canada and the U.S.
Don’t hesitate, Alberta.
It’s going to be an exciting sunny season, and you’ll want to make the most of it.
Happy travelling and enjoy.
