When does the Path of Exile 2 ‘The Third Edict’ update release?

27 August 20253 Mins Read

After having played through the first acts of the game, you’re more than ready to experience more of the campaign of Path of Exile 2. In update 0.3.0 “The Third Edict,” Grinding Gear Games not only adds a fresh act that takes you to a brand-new region, but it also makes adjustments to skills and systems.

If you’re excited to try new builds and learn the next chapter of the Path of Exile 2 storyline, we’ve got you covered. Below, we explain when Path of Exile 2‘s “The Third Edict” update releases alongside some details of what you can expect from this new update.

What time does the Path of Exile 2 ‘The Third Edict’ update release?

Path of Exile 2 “The Third Edict” update will be released on Friday, Aug. 29 (or Saturday, Aug. 30, depending on where you live) at 4 p.m. EDT. Here’s what it looks like for each time zone:

  • 1 p.m. PDT on Friday, Aug. 29 for the west coast of North America
  • 4 p.m. EDT on Friday, Aug. 29 for the east coast of North America
  • 5 p.m. BRT on Friday, Aug. 29 for Brazil
  • 9 p.m. BST on Friday, Aug. 29 for the U.K.
  • 10 p.m. CEST on Friday, Aug. 29 for western Europe
  • 5 a.m. JST on Saturday, Aug. 30 for Japan
  • 6 a.m. AEST on Saturday, Aug. 30 for the east coast of Australia

Grinding Gear Games hasn’t mentioned whether the preload for this update will be available in advance. For update 0.2, the preload became available only a couple of hours before the official release of the update, which could also happen for this update.

The most noticeable additions in “The Third Edict” are the fourth act of the campaign and the three temporary interlude missions. With these in the game, you won’t have to play through the first and third acts twice to reach the endgame portion of Path of Exile 2. The interludes are, however, temporary. Once acts five and six are implemented, they will be removed.

Another small but significant change involves Support Gems. After this next update, there won’t be a limitation on the number of similar Support Gems you can equip. According to Jonathan Rogers from Grinding Gear Games, this change gives room for players to come up with a greater number of builds and work on creating combos, instead of focusing on the single one which has a Support Gem. A new type of gem called Lineage Support Gems is also being added to the game.

Although the game is not receiving new classes, the ones already in the game are receiving buffs. This is great since a new league called “Rise of the Abyssal” will begin, which is a great chance to test the limits of your favorite classes.

Lastly, new and old players can experience all these changes since Path of Exile 2 will be free to play during the first weekend of the update. From Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, new players won’t need to buy an early access key to play the game, and all the progress during the weekend will be saved.
