Just don’t stream it from a tablet
Pixar’s Toy Story 5 is expected to be the most successful film in the franchise to date and could beat out The Super Mario Galaxy Movie as the biggest domestic debut of the year. Strong reviews and love for Pixar’s flagship franchise mean Toy Story 5 is likely to be a box office hit and a streaming favorite. If you and your kids can’t get enough of Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of their gang, you probably want to know when you’ll be able to play together at home. Here’s our best guess as to when Toy Story 5 will be available digitally and on DVD.
When will Toy Story 5 be available to rent or purchase digitally?
Disney typically waits about two months between theatrical and digital releases. Hoppers hit theaters on March 6 and got its digital release on April 28, while Zootopia 2 made its VOD debut on Jan. 27 after opening on Nov. 26, 2025. That means Toy Story 5 will probably land on VOD in August.
When will Toy Story 5 be available on Blu-ray/DVD?
Disney tends to wait three to four weeks between digital and physical releases. Hoppers got its physical release on June 2, while Zootopia 2 came out on 4K UHD, DVD, and Blu-ray on March 3. That means you’ll probably see a special feature-packed Toy Story 5 physical release in September.
When will Toy Story 5 be available to stream on Disney Plus?
Let’s compare it to some of Disney’s other recent kids films. Hoppers launched on the streaming service on June 3, just a day after its physical release and about three months after its theatrical debut. Zootopia 2 arrived on Disney Plus on March 11, about four months after its theatrical release. While Hoppers performed well, it wasn’t nearly as successful as Zootopia 2. If Toy Story 5 becomes the smash hit estimates are predicting, you’ll have to wait until October to stream it.
