Where to find Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

16 October 20252 Mins Read

Pokémon Legends: Z-A features plenty of Pokémon to catch and evolve from across the many Pokémon generations. In addition to its starter trio of Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile, it also features the Kanto starter Pokémon from the original games. If you’re wondering how to add Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle to your team, our guide has you covered.

How to get Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Like Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Legends: Z-A is filled with side missions to tackle when you’re not catching Pokémon or battling trainers. You’ll get your first Kanto starter by completing a specific side mission.

After achieving rank W, the next day you’ll run an errand that ends with you battling one of your fellow members of Team MZ. After you battle her, heal your Pokémon at a Pokécenter and you’ll receive a call on your Rotom phone from Mable. The appropriately named side mission “A Call from Mable” will then become available. To complete it, all you have to do is head to the Pokémon Research Lab and go up to Mable’s office where the Kanto starters will be waiting.

Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle will be off to the side, and you’re allowed to select one at this point in the game. Pick whichever one you want and they’ll be added to your team.

To get the remaining two Kanto starters, unfortunately you’ll have to wait until Pokémon Legends: Z-A‘s post-game. You can also always ask a very generous friend to trade you their Kanto starter, but since there’s no breeding in this game, that may be too heavy of an ask.
