Where to find the pond jockey location in Grounded 2

12 August 20262 Mins Read

Tracking down Grounded 2‘s pond jockey is an important step toward making underwater exploration easier. The pond jockey itself isn’t particularly special, nor does it give you more than one drop. However, scanning that drop unlocks a new weapon designed for underwater combat.

Below, we show you where to find the pond jockey in Grounded 2.

The pond jockey lives, as you’d expect, in the pond. That’s Skunk Pond, added in the “Into the Abyss” update, and you’ll find it southeast of the Ice Cream Cart. However, the pond jockey is somewhat elusive. The only spot we regularly found them is in the eastern part of the pond, north of the fallen trash can and just to the west of the bridge. Before you go swimming, though, make sure to craft a spear of tier 2 power or higher. Spears and the harpoon gun are the only weapons that you can use underwater, and you need the pond jockey before you can make a harpoon gun.

Dive down once you’re ready, and take a look around. The pond jockey is easy to distinguish from other underwater creatures, as it’s bright green and travels at the center of a small group of little pond jockeys. It’s docile and won’t become aggressive unless you attack it. Which, of course, you have to do.

Pond jockeys are weak to salt, but if you don’t have any salty spears, a regular one will do. Just make sure you have some restorative items on hand. The jockey itself is weak, but all the little ones around it start attacking with it, so the damage adds up quickly. Keep an eye on your air meter as well, and swim up for a break to heal and breathe when things start looking dire. If you have the toe biter buggy, you can also just ride on it and attack, since it’s an amphibious buggy.

Collect the pond jockey meat it leaves behind, and scan it at an analyzer the next time you’re at a ranger station. Doing so will unlock the harpoon gun, a ranged weapon for underwater use that lets you soften enemies before moving in for melee attacks.
