While Iconic Prog-Rock Band Tours Classic 1971 Album, Here’s What Some of the Original Members Are Doing

11 June 20252 Mins Read

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame prog-rockers Yes have announced they will launch a tour on Oct. 1 to celebrate their classic 1972 album, Fragile.

Interestingly, the current lineup of the band only has one member, guitarist Steve Howe, who actually played on the album. Fragile, which includes the album-rock classic “Roundabout,” also features singer Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, keyboardist Rick Wakeman and drummer Bill Bruford.

Squire died in 2015 from leukemia, but Anderson is still active and is about to launch the second leg of his Yes, Epic, Classic & More tour with his own group Jon Anderson and the Band Geeks. It begins June 15 in Washington, D.C. and runs through July 13 in St. Louis.

Anderson split from Yes in 2004, after he was suffering from asthma, bronchitis and exhaustion in the last week of the group’s 35th anniversary tour. He feels like he’s still part of the band.

“I have this feeling that, in my mind, in my thoughts, I’m still in Yes, even though I got very ill and they had to carry on. That’s what bands do,” he told Rolling Stone in 2023.

Bruford, meanwhile, is keeping busy playing in the Pete Roth Trio, a jazz combo led by his former drum tech. They’re playing dates in Japan later this month before heading to the U.K., Italy and Spain in July.

Wakeman is also touring this summer. His Strictly Wakeman tour, featuring Hayley Sanderson, a singer on the British TV show Strictly Come Dancing, begins July 18 in Richmond, Va. And runs through July 31 in Phoenixville, Penn.

Along with Howe, the current version of Yes includes keyboardist Geoff Downes, who was onboard during the band’s “Owner of a Lonely Heart” resurgence in the early ‘80s and rejoined in 2011, as well as multi-instrumentalist Billy Sherwood, singer Jon Davison, and drummer Jay Schellen. The latter three musicians are relatively new recruits, who joined the band in 1997, 2012 and 2016 respectively.

Yes’ Fragile 2025 Tour kicks off Oct. 1 in Wallingford, Con. and runs through Nov. 16 in Reno, Nev.
