Who Is Mark Orchard? Everything We Know About Savannah Guthrie's Ex-Husband

Mark Orchard is the first husband of Today anchor, Savannah Guthrie. The pair met while they were both covering the Michael Jackson case; Guthrie was working for Court TV while Orchard had been reporting for BBC News.

Guthrie’s personal life was thrust into the spotlight in February 2026 when her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing. Authorities believe that Nancy, 84, was abducted from her home in Arizona.

What Does Mark Orchard Do for Work?

Orchard studied Philosophy at University College London, according to LinkedIn. After graduating, he launched his journalism career, taking a job with ITN. From there, he worked as a senior news producer for the BBC where he spent a good chunk of his career.

After leaving the BBC, Orchard took a job with Al Jazeera in Washington, D.C. Over the course of his career, Orchard developed a deep focus on U.S. politics. He has covered every U.S. election since 1996 and was a traveling member of the White House press corps during President George W. Bush’s first term.

Mark is currently the senior broadcast producer for Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson, a position he’s held since 2016.

“I’m always looking for interesting stories about the federal government, federal spending, diplomacy and defense,” his LinkedIn bio reads, in part.

Why did Savannah Guthrie and Mark Orchard Divorce?

Guthrie and Orchard tied the knot in 2005—the same year they met, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Guthrie hasn’t shared details about why the marriage ended, but in July 2025, she opened up about that challenging time in her life, calling the split “horrible.”

“It was horrible and sad, and it broke my heart, and it took me years to recover,” she said on an episode of Monica Lewinsky’s Reclaiming podcast. “And I’m not blaming anyone, but I don’t really want to get into it.”

In February 2025, Guthrie talked to Us Weekly about how the divorce affected her.

“When I was 36, I got divorced. I wasn’t married long. That was a huge disappointment,” she said. “I was pretty sure that I had lost my opportunity [to have kids] and more or less ruined my life. All I ever really wanted was to fall in love, be a mom and have a family. I don’t know if it’s acceptable to admit these days, but that’s kind of how I was. I wanted to do something important and meaningful, but I really wanted a family.”

Guthrie met her current husband Michael Feldman in 2008. The two got married in 2014 and have two children, daughter, Vale, and son, Charley, together.

Orchard keeps his personal life completely private. Though he does have a public-facing Twitter account, his Instagram is private.
