Who Is Milly Alcock, Really? Get to Know the New Supergirl

26 June 202610 Mins Read

Milly Alcock has been a fixture in living rooms for the better half of a decade, and now she’s making her mark as a blockbuster star.

After an uncredited mid-credit cameo in Superman (2025), Alcock, 26, is rocking her own suit and cape as fellow Kryptonian Kara Zor-El again in Supergirl (2026).

Prior to her casting as Clark Kent’s cousin in the DC Universe, Alcock had a major breakout thanks to House of the Dragon. The Game of Thrones prequel was a smash, and her performance as the young Rhaenyra Targaryen was critically acclaimed. She followed it with the Netflix dramedy miniseries Sirens, once again being lauded for her portrayal of “broken Barbie doll” Simone.

Though Kara is mostly invincible, save for kryptonite, in Supergirl, the Aussie starlet plays a broken character once more: Kara is struggling to find her way and her identity after trauma and loss when she’s forced to fight for the one thing she has left from her home planet: Her superdog, Krypto. (It’s giving John Wick with brighter colors and, hopefully, a sunnier fate for the pooch.)

“My personal experience of being Milly mirrored Kara’s experience, which was ‘Hide. Run away. Pretend it’s not happening,'” she recalled to Variety. “And then you have to face it to heal a part of yourself that you’ve been neglecting.”

Is Milly Alcock in Upright?

Indeed, she is! Alcock led the Aussie sitcomUpright from 2019 to 2022, and she actually dropped out of school to accommodate the filming schedule of the road trip-themed show’s first season.

“I knew that this opportunity would be so much more of a valuable experience than getting my piece of paper,” she told Vogue Australia. “I never doubted it for a second. I was almost too impulsive. I was like: ‘No, this is what I’ve been working towards and I’ve been given this amazing opportunity with this amazing cast, with this beautiful script.’ I couldn’t say no and I couldn’t let the fear and anxiety of not finishing school haunt me, because that would have defeated the whole purpose of leaving.”

Is Milly Alcock in a relationship?

Alcock is reportedly dating British chef Jo Powell. They made their red carpet debut in February 2026, but had been Instagram official since June 2025. They look so cute and happy together!

The pair reportedly live together now and met at a karaoke bar during a rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen, per Stylist, so we know these two have great taste (and, perhaps, a lot of confidence in their respective vocal ranges).

What is Milly Alcock’s ethnicity?

Alcock is Australian.

Why does Milly Alcock look so different?

Alcock is no longer playing young Rhaenyra Targaryen, and like Emma D’Arcy, who played the older version of the character (not to mention Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke), the white-blonde wig and accompanying makeup makes a huge difference in Alcock’s appearance. As such, some fans didn’t realize that our Supergirl is the same as the erstwhile Queen of Dragons.

Does Milly Alcock have a condition?

Alcock has previously spoken about having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

“I really struggled at school. I was one of those kids that would study, study, study and then I would barely pass. I was held back, almost flunked out. I would get so frustrated and so heartbroken. It just wouldn’t go in my brain,” she explained to Stylist, adding that she was diagnosed as an adult. “I could finally be like, ‘Yes, I’m not crazy.’ I was fortunate that I could afford a private doctor, because otherwise you can be on a waiting list for years. The resources aren’t, unfortunately, being funded. Diagnosis changed everything for me, because I finally understood that things I do aren’t just a weird tic or way of thinking or fidget.”

Did Milly Alcock live in an attic?

Alcock previously lived in an attic at her family home in Sydney. While it sounds like it would’ve perhaps been cramped and cobweb-infested, it’s actually a pretty sweet space.

Where is Milly Alcock today?

Today, Alcock reportedly lives in London.

Is Milly Alcock a smoker?

Alcock admitted that she smokes when she’s stressed, including her first day filming House of the Dragon.

“I couldn’t stop shaking. I was mortified,” she told Flaunt. “I have only done Australian TV, which is substantially different from anything of this world. I remember it was a scene at the end of the first episode. I remember going for action and thinking, ‘This is the first take that is going to change your life.’ I was so anxious and tense. I went out for a cigarette and calmed down. You get so excited to work and your body physically reacts, and that inhibits you from doing your job because you want to be relaxed and not skittish.”

How tall is Millie Alcock?

Alcock is 5’5″, which actually makes her the most petite live-action Supergirl yet: Melissa Benoist and Helen Slater are both 5’8″, Sasha Calle is 5’7″ and Laura Vandervoort is 5’6″.

Does Milly Alcock have a husband?

Alcock is not married as of this writing in June 2026.

The only publicly confirmed relationship we know of that Alcock has had is with Powell.

She was previously rumored to be in a relationship with her House of the Dragon co-star Fabien Frankel, who played Rhaenyra Targaryen’s bodyguard and knight Criston Cole, but that was never confirmed.

Fans also assumed that Alcock dated Luca Ward and Ari Kwasner-Catsi, but those situations were never confirmed, either, and could very well simply be cases of strangers making assumptions about a woman existing in the same space as a man at the same time.

What is Milly Alcock’s real name?

Alcock’s real, full name is Amelia May Alcock.

What did Milly Alcock say about Christians?

Alcock never actually said anything about Christians. She did, however, point out some hypocrisy in the types of men who troll her online.

In an interview with Variety, when asked about how she copes with the people who relentlessly criticize and bully her online, she said, “I mean, whose opinion do you really care about? If you’re p—ing the right kind of people off, you’re doing OK. And it’s from a lot of people whose profiles have no photo, who are burner accounts. Or someone’s name and then ‘Dad of four, Christian,’ which is hilarious to me.”

The point, for those of you with little to no critical thinking or reading comprehension skills (it’s OK, we’ll work with you!), is that those calling themselves Christian dads aren’t acting very Christ-like and are setting poor examples for their children. If this still upsets you, try some introspection to figure out why.

Is Milly Alcock naturally blonde?

Alcock’s natural hair color appears to be either dark blonde or light brown, based on photosof her as a child. Because she started acting when she was quite young, it’s unclear whether her hair color was altered at those times for a role (like when her hair was dark brown in The Reckoning, for example), but her roots are generally in the same range today. She definitely, though, is not nearly as blond as her former character Rhaenyra Targaryen!

Why did Milly Alcock get replaced?

We’re assuming you mean on House of the Dragon. That’s because her character, Rhaenyra Targaryen, aged up in the show’s timeline, at which point D’Arcy took over the role.

What nationality is Milly Alcock?

Alcock is Australian.

Who are Milly Alcock’s parents?

Alcock’s parents are private figures and not involved in the entertainment industry, which makes her a refreshing break from the seemingly endless stream of nepo babies pervading nearly all of pop culture.

“I think I got my interest in acting because everybody was uninterested in acting,” Alcock previously told Vogue Australia. “I grew up in a predominantly rugby union household; it doesn’t make any sense.”

What is Milly Alcock best known for?

Alcock is best known for playing young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon and, now, for playing the titular Kara Zor-El in Supergirl. In Australia, she is also well-known for starring as Meg Adams in the sitcom Upright.

How old was Milly Alcock in House of the Dragon?

Alcock was 21 years old when House of the Dragon Season 1 was filming. She told Vogue Australia that looking younger than her years is a double-edged sword.

“Hollywood has set up this ideal where people who are between aged 17 and 18 look like they’re 25, which is just not true,” she said. “So we’ve kind of been conditioned to think that if you’re a certain age you have to look a certain way, which is not the case for a lot of people. Looking younger is bittersweet. It does have its advantages, but it also has disadvantages, because people treat you like you’re younger and sometimes don’t give you the same respect in that regard.”
