It seems Tate McRae is back on the market after reportedly splitting from her boyfriend of more than a year, The Kid LAROI. Although the “Greedy” singer has yet to comment on the rumored breakup, Laroi seems to have confirmed it on X, where he posted an exchange saying he and McRae are “on good terms,” a strange phrase to use if you’re describing an ongoing romantic relationship. The news of a possible split sent fans on both sides of the relationship into a tailspin, with some accusing Laroi of starting a smear campaign against McRae, which he adamantly denied on social media (more on that below).

After dating The Kid LAROI for more than a year, it appears that McRae is currently single. That said, the Canadian crooner, who’s on her Miss Possessive Tour until Nov. 8, 2025, hasn’t publicly commented on her relationship status.
Are Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI still together?
McRae and the Australian rapper have seemingly parted ways, although the exact timeline of their presumed split is unclear. Rumors of a breakup started swirling in early July, when McRae celebrated her 22nd birthday on a yacht in Saint-Tropez sans Laroi. A couple of weeks later, gossip account Deuxmoi reported that Laroi was allegedly spotted at Barr Seco in Los Angeles with a woman described as “short and blonde.” According to the site’s eyewitness, the “Without You” rapper and his companion — who had a “more edgy vibe” than McRae — were holding hands.

How long were Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI together for?
The Gen Z darlings were first linked in January 2024, when McRae, fresh off a group trip to Mexico, posted photos of herself wearing what appeared to be one of Laroi’s shirts. Several sightings later, including a dinner date in L.A. and a Super Bowl weekend spent hanging out with the Biebers, Laroi referred to McRae as his “girlfriend” at a show in Dublin on April 14, 2024. Assuming the pair started dating in January 2024 and broke up in July 2025, they would have been together for about 18 months.
“She’s the hardest working artist I’ve ever met in my entire life,” Laroi told Elle magazine in June 2025, just before their alleged split. “And I don’t say that because she’s my girlfriend. Seeing how hard she works inspires and encourages me to follow along and do the same. There’s something really, really motivating about that — and really attractive as well.”
He also told the outlet that her smile made him “weak.”
What happened with Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI?
Neither McRae nor Laroi have provided insight into what went wrong in their relationship, if indeed something went wrong, but some gossip-hungry fans have resurfaced a Deuxmoi tip from February 2025 to suggest that the relationship was at least partially a PR stunt. Without naming names, the unsubstantiated blind item suggested that a Canadian pop star widely believed to be McRae was already “tired of” her boyfriend — a rapper “from down under” — but staying with him (while cheating on him) for another several months to fulfill “management requests.” As with anything gleaned from Deuxmoi, you should take it with a huge grain of salt.
More recently, Laroi responded to a fan who claimed his team was paying for “slander” tweets against McRae.

Laroi not only denied the claim but also shared an exchange he had with his social team, informing them that if they were, in fact, behind a smear campaign, he wanted it put to a stop. “Tate and I are on good terms and this just looks messy / whack,” he said.
“[D]efinitely didn’t come from us that’s f–cked up,” a team member responded.
Did Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI make a song together?
Yes. The pair collaborated on “I Know Love,” a track off of McRae’s 2025 album So Close to What. “It was a really funny process, because me and Laroi have never really, like, taken each other seriously,” she said of working with her then boyfriend. “You know when you’re in a relationship and you sing around each other, but you don’t really, like, sing? So it was a little stressful being in the studio singing and writing in front of him, but it was a cool experience to watch him in his process.”

On the contrary, Sillinger seemed to shut down the idea that he was unfaithful by responding to a hockey meme account that called his alleged cheating on McRae “potentially the greatest fumble of a female in human history.” (The joke was that she was invited to perform at an NHL All-Star Game before Sillinger ever made it to one himself.)

In a YouTube interview with influencer Jake Shane in January 2024, she revealed that a friend once sent her a Tinder profile belonging to her boyfriend. “I said, ‘This must be fake,’ and it was verified,” she recalled. “I didn’t believe it, so it didn’t hurt me at the time.”
