Believe it or not, the iconic game show has been on the air for over 60 years (though the modern incarnation we know and love technically debuted in 1984). It was a short-lived run for Emily Burnham, who lost the champion title to Nikolas Polsinelli, who claimed victory with a 1-day total of $17,601.

Final Jeopardy today was in the category “U.S. GEOGRAPHY“

The clue: “Meaning “endless” & “grassy open place”, this name for a region of thousands of square miles first appeared on a map in 1823.”

The answer: “What is the Everglades?

Polsinelli was in the lead at the end of the DJ round with $13,200, opposite Burnham’s $8,200 and Langton’s $8,800. He was the only one to get the FJ question correct, adding his $4,401 to his daily total of $17,601 as the new champion. Burnham wagered $5,001, dropping to a secon place of $3,199, while Langton wagered everything for a total loss and a third-place spot. 

Polsinelli will be back on Friday for attempt number 2.
