2025 Outlook for Brazil’s Travel & Tourism Sector

During a recent summit, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) provided an optimistic forecast for Brazil’s Travel & Tourism sector. According to their latest Economic Impact Research (EIR), produced in collaboration with Oxford Economics, the sector is set to contribute a record-breaking US$167.6 billion to the country’s GDP by year-end 2025, accounting for 7.7% of Brazil’s economy.

Furthermore, the sector is expected to support 8.2 million jobs, representing almost 8% of total employment in Brazil. This increase signifies an addition of more than half a million jobs compared to 2019. Both international and domestic tourism spend are predicted to grow, reaching US$7.5 billion and US$113.2 billion, respectively.

International visitor spend rose by 10.7% year-on-year to US$7.2 billion. Domestic spend also saw an increase, growing by 3% to reach US$112.3 billion. The significant growth in the sector reflects the strategic efforts by both the government and the private sector.

Forecast for 2035

Looking forward to 2035, WTTC projects that Brazil’s Travel & Tourism sector will nearly reach US$199 billion, growing at an average annual rate of 1.7%. The sector is expected to support nearly 9.7 million jobs, creating more than 1.5 million new roles over the next decade. International visitor spend could exceed US$10 billion, while domestic visitor spend is anticipated to reach US$133.5 billion.
