If there’s anything we know about Calgary, it’s that we love two things: brunch and our mountains. So why not combine them? This spring, you can enjoy a delicious brunch spread at the top of Sulpher Mountain in Banff, and the views are (unsurprisingly) spectacular.
Celebrate the new season by adding a unique experience to your regular Banff Gondola ticket. Once you arrive at the top of Sulpher Mountain, you can enjoy a brunch date unlike any other as a part of the Bloom and Brunch Festival. Grab your friends or a special someone because this is a fine dining experience you don’t want to miss out on.
Here’s everything you need to know, along with a few other ways to make the most of Banff in the springtime.
Banff in the spring
It’s no secret that Banff is a mountain town. Therefore, you can expect spring to be a little… chillier than other parts of the country. Of course, that’s half the fun, as there’s nothing quite like strolling around Banff village in the crisp alpine air surrounded by snowcapped peaks. There are several seasonal attractions to enjoy this time of the year, too!
The Banff Gondola
The village is a jewel in its own right, but the real wonders of Banff are best seen from above.
The Banff Gondola whisks you 700 metres up the mountainside to the summit of Sulphur Mountain in only eight minutes. From there, you can enjoy breathtaking views, dine at Sky Bistro or the Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen, and explore the Above Banff Interpretive Centre.
To get the most out of the views, there’s an easy hike along a 500-metre boardwalk to Sanson Peak. There, you’ll find the Sulphur Mountain Cosmic Ray Station National Historic Site with the 1903 weather observatory. The gondola is accessible year-round, weather dependent, of course.
You can also visit the mountain after the sun goes down as a part of the Nightrise night tours at Sanson’s Peak. Experience Banff in a whole new way as you embark on a guided tour beneath the moonlit sky. This Nightrise experience brings the mountain to life through captivating storytelling, created in partnership with the Stoney Nakoda Nation. Evening tours are weather-dependent and bookable from now until the end of the month.
Bloom and Brunch Festival
If you want to kick off spring in style, you can add a special brunch ticket to your gondola experience. The Bloom and Brunch Festival, hosted by Banff Gondola and Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen, will be available on weekends from now until mid-May between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Enjoy a buffet brunch, mimosa bar, live music, floral photo ops, and stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
You can purchase a Bloom and Brunch package that includes Banff Gondola admission starting at $121 per adult. Alternatively, you can also purchase your Banff Gondola admission and Brunch separately, with brunch starting at $65.
Will you be visiting Banff this spring before the snow melts?
