You can cross-country ski in Toronto and here’s where

26 January 20262 Mins Read

Toronto, how are we feeling after that snowstorm? Personally, I’ve never seen anything like it, and while I was cozied up inside all night as the snow came down, I’m feeling differently now that the dust has settled and the sun is out. If you want to make the most of a snow day or embrace the fluffy stuff while it’s here, you need to activate winter activity mode. Did you know there are multiple places in Toronto where you can cross-country ski? Yep, it’s great exercise and a unique way to enjoy this weather.

Here are all the spots.

High Park

High Park has a network of trails that are perfect for beginners on cross-country skis. This will be one of the busier areas, so always keep an eye out for fellow skiers or those braving the trails on foot.

Where: 1873 Bloor St. W.

Tommy Thompson Park

With over 10 km of trails, this is one of the quietest places to cross-country ski in Toronto.

Not only is it quiet, but it also boasts views of the city skyline.

Where: 1 Leslie St.

Beltline Trail

This trail spans nine kilometres along Mud Creek.

It’s a little outside of the hustle of downtown, but it’s still easy to get to.

Where: 212 Moore Ave.

Don Valley Ravine Trails

“Hidden gems of the Don Valley ravine system, Crothers Woods, Sun Valley, and Cottonwood Flats have combined kilometres worth of woodland trails,” shares the City of Toronto.

Where: Various entry points

Toronto Island Park

This one depends on the ferry’s schedule, but if you’ve never been to the islands during winter, you have to plan a trip over with your skis.

Shoeshowing is also a great option here, and are a little easier to take on the ferry.

The City has tips for visiting the islands during the off-season, too.

Where: Various ferry access points

Remember to bundle up, Toronto. The cross-country ski trails await.
