You can do yoga with Highland cows at this homestead near Calgary

16 July 20263 Mins Read

Highland Cow Yoga and Breathwork is coming to Hartell Homestead, giving you the chance to take part in a yoga session surrounded by Alberta’s prairies and some very friendly Highland cows. Located 45 minutes south of Calgary in Longview, this three-hour retreat will include yoga, breathwork, brunch and time to explore the farm. So if your usual weekend yoga class is starting to feel a bit too predictable, it might be time to roll out that yoga mat somewhere a bit more unexpected.

Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming retreat.

According to the organizers, the experience is meant to give guests a chance to enjoy a unique morning on the farm that combines movement, food, and time outdoors. The morning will begin with a one-hour yoga flow, giving guests the chance to move through a relaxing session surrounded by the countryside. After the yoga session, guests will take part in a 30-minute breathwork session.

And once you’ve had some time to relax and recharge your system, you’ll gather for a light brunch from Fit Kitchen, along with a refreshing drink and snacks.

After refuelling, you’ll have time to wander the homestead, meet Highland cows and other furry friends, and check out the farm stand that will be stocked with fresh produce, eggs, and meats.

Timing and tickets

The Highland Cow Yoga and Breathwork experience will take place on Sunday, July 19, 2026. Guests can arrive between 10 and 10:30 a.m. to park and set up their yoga mats before the retreat begins. The yoga session will run from 10:30 to 11 a.m., followed by breathwork from 11:30 a.m. to noon. Brunch will take place from noon to 12:30 p.m., with the rest of the morning dedicated to exploring the homestead, meeting the farm animals and browsing the farm stand.

Tickets are $62.91 per person and must be purchased online in advance. Since spots are limited, it’s best to grab your tickets now before they fill up.

The event is hosted by You Discover New Events YYC, a local group behind a variety of unique experiences around Calgary. If you can’t make this event, its website has plenty more experiences to check out throughout the year.

So, if you’re in need of a reset after 10 days of Stampede crowds and late nights, a morning spent doing yoga with Highland cows might be exactly the kind of reset you need!

When: Sunday, July 19, 2026
Time: 10 a.m.
Where: 144208 Hwy. 543, Foothills County, Alta.
Cost: $62.91
