Who says you can’t camp AND enjoy the finer things in life? If you’re longing for a nature-soaked escape that doesn’t require sacrificing any creature comforts, this glamping getaway near Calgary ticks all the boxes.
Wake up to the sound of the rushing river as you stretch out on fluffy pillows and soft bedding. This unique campground in Bragg Creek is only 40 minutes from Calgary and features several riverside glamping domes along the Elbow River with all the cozy fixings.
There’s nothing like a quaint nature escape to help you reset, and this unique glamping dome near Calgary looks about as peaceful as it comes!
Here’s everything you need to know before booking your stay.
The Dome
Connect with nature in the comfort of a fully equipped riverside dome. This unique stay is located along Elbow River at Onespot Crossing Campground, a 200-acre, family-owned Indigenous campground. While you have the comforts of real bedding and a wood-burning stove, this is still a rustic, off-grid experience with access by gravel road — so make sure your car can handle it before you book!
Your stay includes all the camping basics, like a private firepit and picnic table, along with some glitzy extras like solar lights, a private porta-lu toilet, and sweeping curtains to cover up the main bay window at night.
The riverside site has a total of five domes, but the thick foliage and treeline will make you feel like you’re off in your own private world. These glamping domes are also pet-friendly, so just make sure you indicate that your furry friend is joining you upon booking.
What’s Included?
The riverside domes are available to book year-round, but you should know there are some season-specific stipulations to keep in mind.
Winter Stays: Sept. 15 – June 15
You’ll be treated to stunning, snowy views if you book in the winter season, but please note winter stays are only recommended for true adventure lovers.
- Heating of the dome is via wood stove. Wood is included for stays booked between Sept. 15 to June 15.
- The domes are NOT pre-heated. You will have to heat them upon your arrival, which can take between one to two hours, so arrive early!
- Wood is provided for the interior wood stove only, NOT the outdoor firepit. Please bring your own wood for that.
- The shower is closed during the winter. You will need to bring your own drinking and hand-washing water.
- An AWD or 4×4 vehicle is highly recommended in the winter.
- Bring layers and warm clothing whenever winter camping.
- Solar lighting is included along with a USB port for cell charging and a wireless cell charger (no regular electricity).
- The campsite highly recommends arriving early in the winter, preferably between 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- If the temperature forecast is below -15 Celcius, you can reschedule or get a full refund. Just make sure to notify the campsite a minimum of three days before your stay.
Summer Stays: June 16 – Sept. 14
As with any campsite, summer is the best time to book your stay and make the most of the great outdoors – without your thermals.
- There is a propane-heated outdoor shower and rain canopy provided.
- Solar lighting is included along with a USB port for cell charging and a wireless cell charger (no regular electricity).
- Wood for the interior stove is NOT provided for summer bookings between the dates of June 16 to Sept. 14. Please bring your own firewood.
