You can stay in a restored grain silo in Alberta that feels surprisingly cozy

15 April 20262 Mins Read

Just over an hour from Calgary, near the town of Sundre, you can stay in a restored grain silo… which sounds questionable at first, but it’s actually very cozy.

Tucked away in the trees, the Tin Bins Cabin has been transformed into a secluded getaway that is perfect for anyone looking to disconnect for a bit.

It’s quiet, peaceful, and gives main character energy.

About the Tin Bins

The cabin itself is made from two old grain bins that have been converted into a 375 sq. ft. open space, and it’s super cozy. There’s a huge handmade bed, a wood-burning stove, and dangerously comfortable leather recliners.

Everything has that rustic vibe, but it still feels put together, and being surrounded by spruce and pine trees makes it feel even more peaceful.

Outside, there’s a massive deck to enjoy your coffee in the morning, and a fire-pit for late-night s’mores, which just completes the whole experience.

And if you do feel like getting out for a bit, there are trails that surround the cabin you can explore, or you can always drive into the nearby town of Sundre for food, shops, or a few activities before heading back to the quiet.

What to know before you go

This is definitely more of a glamping experience than a traditional stay, so you will want to come prepared. There’s a bit of a packing list, including things like outdoor shoes, slippers, warm clothing, and your own towels and toiletries.

Cooking is done outside, and depending on the season, things like running water may be limited.

It’s also important to note that this is an adults-only stay, which adds to the peaceful, quiet vibe. It’s a bit more hands-on, but that’s what makes the experience feel fun and different.

Honestly, this is one of those places that feels a little random at first, but completely wins you over once you are there. Surrounded by trees and filled with unique touches, it is the kind of place that makes you forget about everything else for a bit.

Where: Cremon, Alta. (address given out upon booking)
Cost: Starting at $210
