You can take in 360-degree lake views from this 40-foot tower in Ontario

26 June 20253 Mins Read

Who needs a drone when there’s a 40-foot tower with amazing views? If you’re up for an adventure, head to Nipigon, Ont., where the Bridgeview Lookout Tower serves up some seriously stunning 360-degree views.

About an hour and a half away from Thunder Bay is the Bridgeview Lookout Tower. If you happen to be in the area, it’s a must-visit.

Bridgeview Lookout Tower

It’s located at the entrance into Nipigon at the west end of the Nipigon River Bridge. According to North of Superior Tourism Association, this structure stands at 40 feet. So get ready for the climb.

At least the view is worth it!

It offers a 360-degree view of Lake Helen, the Nipigon River Bridge, the Nipigon River, Marina and the Bay.

“Parking, picnic tables, and benches are available for visitors as well as a Group of Seven Interpretive panel and an Indigenous Group of Seven Monument by the parking lot,” shares the tourism page.

According to the Township of Nipigon, the Bridgeview Lookout Tower was completed in 2018. And since then, it has remained a point of interest for visitors exploring the region. It has about 65 steps, so put on your best running shoes.

The Nipigon River Bridge

And while you’re there, stop by the Nipigon River Bridge.

“Opened in the spring of 2017, the Nipigon River Bridge replaced a 40-year-old steel-plated girder bridge,” shares the township.

“The new bridge is a cable-stayed bridge, the first of its kind in Ontario. The precast towers of the bridge serve as a signature aesthetic feature and stand 246 feet tall.”

It has a viewing platform facing the river and is considered a good spot to catch the sunset. There are also walking paths that take you across or under the bridge.

Make sure to pay these a visit if you’re in the area.
