You can try street food from over 15 countries at this Old Montreal festival this month

7 August 20253 Mins Read

Montreal’s summer food scene isn’t slowing down, and one of the city’s most mouthwatering festivals is about to roll back into town (Hey, that rhymes!)

From August 14 to 17, the 5th annual Festival Streetfood de Montréal is taking over the Clock Tower Pier in the Old Port, serving up flavours from more than 15 countries across Asia, Latin America, Europe and the Caribbean. You’ll find grilled skewers from Thailand, takoyaki from Japan, tacos from Mexico, paella from Spain, and plenty more — all in one place.

Inspired by bustling night markets like the ones you’d find in Hong Kong or Kyoto, the setup includes over 40 food kiosks lining the pier in two long rows. There’ll be charcoal grills, oversized pans, clouds of steam, and the smells of sizzling meat in the air. It’s a full sensory experience, right down to the kitchen chatter happening in a dozen different languages.

Notable participants at this year’s edition include Kwizinn, Boom J’s, Chungchun, and many more.

And it’s not just about the food. Each night will feature live DJ sets with sounds from Latin America, East Asia, the Middle East and the Caribbean. There’ll also be cocktail stands, an inflatable playground for kids, chill-out zones, and even a massive beer pong setup. Plus, you can vote for your favourite kiosk.

The idea is to make it easy to try a bunch of things without breaking the bank. Most dishes cost between $3 and $16, with each kiosk limited to just two items over $10.

Whether you’re going to snack your way through dinner or just want an excuse to hang by the water with something grilled in your hand, this is one of the best bites-for-your-buck festivals of the season.
