You can wake up beside dinosaurs at this prehistoric Calgary sleepover

22 July 20263 Mins Read

The Telus Spark is bringing a prehistoric adventure to Calgary with Roar and Snore: A Prehistoric Sleepover. The overnight experience lets guests explore the science centre after dark and spend the night surrounded by dinosaurs.

The event includes after-hours access to the exhibits, hands-on activities, and a chance to come face-to-face with Sue the T. rex, the world’s most complete and well-preserved Tyrannosaurus rex fossil ever discovered.

So if you’re looking for a family-friendly adventure that’s a little out of the ordinary, here’s everything you need to know before you book your spot.

The activities and experiences at Roar and Snore

Once the doors close for the day, the prehistoric adventure begins. According to Telus Spark, the evening will be packed with exclusive activities that you won’t experience during a regular daytime visit.

One of the biggest highlights is Sue: The T. rex Experience. The exhibit features a cast of one of the world’s most famous Tyrannosaurus rex fossils, along with interactive displays that let you see how the massive predators lived millions of years ago through sight, sound, smell, and touch.

And when it’s finally time to call it a night, the adventure isn’t over. The experience also includes a late-night snack, followed by a hot breakfast the next morning and admission to Telus Spark the following day, so there’s plenty of time to keep exploring.

Tickets, timing, and details

The overnight experience will take place on Aug. 8, with doors opening at 6 p.m. If you’re interested in attending, you can begin the booking process by submitting a form through the Telus Spark website.

Bookings must be submitted at least two weeks before the sleepover day, and organizers will confirm your reservation within two business days after receiving your form. It’s important to note that this experience is designed for families, and children must attend with a parent, guardian, or supervising adult.

And since you’ll be sleeping inside one of Telus Spark’s gallery spaces, come prepared with your own sleeping bag and air mattress. Comfortable clothing, a change of clothes for the next day, and essentials like a toothbrush and toothpaste are also recommended.

A sleepover at a science centre is already a pretty memorable way to spend a night, but adding dinosaurs into the mix takes it to another level. So pack your sleeping bags, bring your curiosity, and get ready for a night and experience that’s anything but ordinary.

When: Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026
Time: Check-in opens at 6 p.m.
Where: 220 St. George’s Dr. NE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Youth: $100, Guardians: $95
