Your guide to the best Canada Day events happening in and around Calgary this year

25 June 20263 Mins Read

Canada Day is almost here, and Calgary is hosting a full lineup of events across the city. And if you’re ready to make the most of your mid-week break, there’s no shortage of events worth checking out, whether you’re planning a fun day or just hopping between a few spots around the city.

We’ve gathered some of the best events to check out in and around Calgary this Canada Day, so you know exactly where to go.

Let’s get into it!

Celebrate Canada’s birthday at Spruce Meadows with a full day of activities, live entertainment and more. Guests can enjoy a complimentary barbecue courtesy of ATCO, along with a variety of performance and family-friendly programming throughout the day. The celebration wraps up with a live outdoor concert featuring Canadian country artist Brett Kissel.

When: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Spruce Meadows – 18011 Spruce Meadows Way SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $10.79

Grab your whole family and head over to Heritage Park for a full day of live entertainment, cultural celebration, and hands-on fun. Throughout the event, you’ll find vintage displays, historical reenactors, a live parade, and plenty of other activities spread throughout the park to enjoy at your own pace.

When: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Heritage Park – 1900 Heritage Dr. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Included with General Admission; Starting at $27.95

For anyone looking to swap the city crowds for some mountain air this Canada Day, Kananaskis Mountain Lodge offers a more nature-focused way to celebrate. At the lodge, guests can take part in live Birds of Prey encounters, getting up close with majestic birds while learning more about wildlife conservation. The day also includes a barbecue and cake-cutting ceremony along with a lodge-wide scavenger hunt.

When: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Where: 1 Centennial Dr., Kananaskis Village, Alta.
Cost: Cost included with stay at the Kananaskis Lodge

Calgary’s Main Stage Canada celebration is a free, city-run event in Prince’s Island Park, and if you’re into live music, this is a great spot to be. An all-Canadian lineup is taking the stage throughout the afternoon, featuring artists like Walk Off the Earth, Micah Sage, and Jamie Fine.

When: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
Time: 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Where: Prince’s Island Park – 27 Prince’s Island Path SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free

If you’re looking for a fun way to wind down after a full day of celebrations, the City of Calgary will be hosting a fireworks show that will be launched at Stampede Park. While you won’t be able to view the fireworks on-site this year, the Max Bell Centre is a great spot to catch the show, as it offers a clear, open view of the city’s skyline.

When: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
Time: 11 p.m.
Where: Best viewpoints – Max Bell Centre, and Scotsman’s Hill
Cost: Free to watch

However you end up spending Canada Day, Calgary’s got enough going on that you won’t have to think too hard about it. We hope this list has made it a little easier to find something that fits your vibe.

So have fun, stay safe, and enjoy the holiday, Calgary!
