The ME Malta Hotel by Meliá opened in the seaside town of St. Julian’s on Malta’s north-eastern coast. Designed by internationally acclaimed architect Zaha Hadid as part of the Mercury Towers development, ME Malta aims to become a cultural and social center for travelers and locals. The hotel is the first Maltese venture for ME by Meliá, following their successful collaboration with Zaha Hadid in Dubai in 2020.
Malta, known for its cultural richness and as a popular LGBTQ+ destination, pairs well with the ME ethos by Meliá. St. Julian’s, with its vibrant nightlife, picturesque bays, luxury boutiques, and proximity to the capital city of Valletta, makes for a versatile location.
The hotel spread over 20 floors, features 113 rooms, 27 suites, and 35 residences, all designed in ME’s signature modern style. It caters to business and leisure travelers, with event spaces including three Thinking Labs, a Plenary Room, and two Breakout Rooms. The hotel also offers a program called ‘Culture Collective,’ where guests can participate in local cultural events and performances.
The 8th floor of the hotel houses the Cabana Club, which aims to be Malta’s leading rooftop beach club. It offers panoramic views, Mediterranean cuisine, and a pool area for relaxation and parties. The hotel also introduces a new restaurant, Luciano by Gino D’Acampo, offering classic Italian and experiential dishes.
By early 2025, the hotel plans to open the Radio Rooftop bar, offering Asian cuisine, signature cocktails, and music, with views of the Mediterranean. Another addition in 2025 will be a spa offering wellness treatments using local, organic ingredients and a 24/7 gym.
ME by Meliá is known for its diverse hotel collection, with flagship hotels in London and Milan. The brand plans to continue its European expansion with the opening of ME Lisbon in 2025.
