Zamara Private is located at the gateway to the Maasai Mara Reserve and is part of Great Plains’ Réserve-Collection safari camps. The property has six suites with natural grass-planted roofs.
Each suite includes overhead fans, air conditioning, a private outdoor deck, writing desk and outdoor shower. Two master suites include a separate living room, private lap pool, walk-in his-and-hers wardrobes, an indoor bathtub, double indoor and outdoor showers, and an additional single room suitable for a guest’s personal assistant.
Four suites can be converted into triple-bedroom configurations for families with children aged 6 and older. The property also includes open-plan spaces connected by elevated wooden walkways, a lounge with a fireplace, a deck, media room, wine room, spa and facilities for in-suite private dining.
A 15-meter-by-5-meter infinity pool is adjacent to a private wellness space with a gym, sauna and steam room. Zamara Private also has an open kitchen, rooftop terrace and landscaped lawn.
Stays include meals and beverages. Dining is available in the main deck area, wine room, rooftop terrace, private suite decks, and through destination picnic breakfasts or lunches. The wine room contains more than 47 bottles, with 65% sourced from South African vineyards.
Guests can take daily safari drives in the Maasai Mara National Reserve using Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles. The vehicles are open-sided and canopied and include fold-down screens, raised roofs, photographic bars, multi-plug inverters, refrigerators, drinks and snacks.
The property also offers hot-air balloon rides over the Mara. Guests may participate in Great Plains Foundation activities, including visits to a Great Plains Bridge, partner schools and a local women’s group. Conservation Roots activities include planting an indigenous tree.
Zamara Private is Great Plains’ sixth camp in Kenya. Its other Kenyan properties include Mara Expedition, Mara Nyika, Mara Plains and Mara Toto Tree Camp in the Maasai Mara region, as well as Ol Donyo Lodge in the southern Chyulu Hills between Kenya’s Tsavo and Amboseli National Parks.
Nightly rates at Zamara Private start at $32,500 (£24,117) per night for 12 guests sharing on an all-inclusive basis.
