Once upon a time, a box of Nerds was reliably part of your Halloween candy assortment each year.
All these decades later, the beloved candy brand is still making waves in the sweets biz, especially after collaborating with the fast-casual restaurant chain Zaxbys last year for the cult-favorite NERDS Strawberry Milkshake.
And now, the treat has returned to locations nationwide by popular demand. Fans can head to their nearest “saucy chicken chain” location as of Monday, August 31 to grab one — but only for a limited time.
Zaxbys took to social media to promote its returning menu item in festive fashion. “Run don’t walk 🏃🎉,” reads the caption of its Instagram reel on Monday. See below.

Fans have since commented on the post to voice their support. “Zaxbys I dedicate my life to you,” wrote one Instagram user, while another person simply commented, “🎉🎉🎉. I need that.”
For those not yet familiar, the Nerds shake blends Zaxbys hand-spun Strawberry Milkshake with the candy’s signature crunch for an “unexpected sweet-and-tart twist,” per the chain’s recent news release. It’s also topped with Nerds Gummy Clusters candy, whipped cream, Rainbow Nerds candy and a Maraschino cherry.
“The NERDS brand is such a fan-favorite, iconic candy, and we knew its signature sweet-and-tangy crunch would take our hand-spun Strawberry Milkshake to a whole new level,” Patrick Schwing, Zaxbys’ chief marketing and strategy officer, said in a recent statement. “The pairing creates a crave-worthy treat that brings nostalgic candy flavors together with the creamy indulgence of a hand-spun Zaxbys Strawberry Milkshake. After seeing how much guests loved it in our test markets, we’re excited to bring it to fans nationwide for a limited time.”
