Another weekend has rolled around, and tons is happening in Calgary worth leaving the house for, even in this freezing weather. Layer up, soak up some sun, and get ready to enjoy a vibrant cultural festival, an iconic musical, and much more. Here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Calgary this weekend (Feb. 27-March 1).

The annual Ethnik Festival of Arts and Culture kicks off in Calgary next week, dedicated to celebrating Black History Month. From artists to performers, get ready to celebrate Afro-Canadian and Caribbean communities through this immersive experience, which includes live performances from Teni, Plutus Band, Sewà, and Tea Fannie.

When: Feb. 27 to March 1, 2026

Limited tickets are still available for Anne of Green Gables, the Musical, directed by Jayme Armstrong, which is on until March 15, 2026. The story follows Anne Shirley as she unexpectedly arrives at a small farming community, winning over the hearts of all she meets with her bold spirit.

You might just see future Calgary Flames players out on the ice at the Calgary Wranglers vs Abbotsford Canucks game this Sunday.

The annual Penguin Walk has returned to the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, and you can see them march at 10:30 a.m. daily.
