Spring is here, and with it comes a bounty of new games to play on PlayStation 5, building off a strong start to 2026. Resident Evil Requiem, Marathon, Nioh 3, God of War: Sons of Sparta, and more have all hit PS5 over the past couple of months. April will be no different as must-play games are being released every week, including a couple on the very last day of the month, Invincible VS and Saros.
Science-fiction fans will want to keep an eye on them, as well as everything else on our list of great games to play on PS5 in April. The month is full of sci-fi games, including a former Xbox console exclusive, a long-in-development action game finally launching, and Don’t Nod’s next adventure.

Starfield
Release date: April 7
After two and a half years of being an Xbox console exclusive, Microsoft is bringing Bethesda’s latest open-world RPG to PlayStation. Starfield drops April 7 on PS5 alongside an expansion and a sizable update called Free Lanes (for Xbox Series X and Windows PC as well) that the developers won’t call “Starfield 2.0,” though that certainly sounds like what the update will be. PS5 players will be able to play the best version of Starfield (and cheapest, as it has dropped in price to $49.99 now) that now allows you to fly through space between planets, recruit new party members, create a space station home base, and more. Customize your character, explore the stars, and get in trouble as you adventure with different factions.

Pragmata
Release date: April 17
The PlayStation 5 was announced nearly six years ago in June 2020. You know what else was announced alongside it? Pragmata, which is finally set to launch after numerous delays (and one surprise push forward, as it was previously dated for April 24). It’s a new IP from Capcom (sorry, Mega Man fans) and follows an astronaut, Hugh, and the android he’s traveling with, Diana. Though she has the appearance of a child, Diana is formidable in her own right and essential to the game’s combat. Pragmata mixes tried-and-true third-person shooting with puzzle-solving via Diana’s hacking powers. She opens up a robot’s weak point. He blasts it. You have fun.

Aphelion
Release date: April 28
Don’t Nod is a developer that’s always trying something new, but the core of its games, from Life Is Strange to Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, are the relationships between characters. In Aphelion, the lead characters are a pair of astronauts, Ariane and Thomas, investigating a newly discovered ninth planet in our solar system to determine if it is suitable for human life. It takes a turn toward Alien: Isolation in that an alien stalks you as you explore, and you’ll have to use your wits to evade it.

Invincible VS
Release date: April 30
Invincible season 4 may end on April 22, but the Invincible fun doesn’t have to stop there as Invincible VS arrives a week later. It’s a bloody and brutal 3v3 tag-team fighter with a roster of 18 heroes and villains from the Image comic book turned Amazon Prime series, like Atom Eve, Omni-Man, Allen the Alien, and more. It’ll debut an original character created for the game, Ella-Mental, who (as you may have guessed) wields the power of the elements in battle. An open beta starts April 9, so you can get a taste of Invincible VS before launch.

Saros
Release date: April 30
Exactly five years after Returnal was released (April 30, 2021), Housemarque is back with another adrenaline-pumping, bullet hell roguelike. Like Returnal, it’s a third-person shooter set on a planet full of monstrous enemies trying to kill you. Unlike Returnal, you’ll have a little more leeway for error in Saros; a shield ability will protect protagonist Arjun, a second chance ability will let you revive once during a run, and, crucially, Saros will launch with an autosave function and multiple save slots. (It took months for Returnal to receive the option to suspend and save a run.) Don’t expect Saros to be easy, however. The hostile forces of the planet Carcosa are out to kill Arjun — a lot. It is a roguelike, after all.
