5 Ontario Parks with spooky Halloween events this October

Halloween meets Ontario Parks this October, with a number of spooky experiences taking over some of our beloved green spaces.

In a blog post, Ontario Parks shared a number of upcoming Halloween events coming to select parks next month.

From campsite decorating to best-dressed costumes to spooky hikes, here are five Ontario Parks hosting Halloween events this October.

The annual Shivers on the Shale experience returns for the Halloween season.

According to Ontario Parks, you’ll have the chance to participate in decorating your campsite, carving a pumpkin, dressing up for trick-or-treating, and visiting the haunted picnic shelter.

When: Friday, Oct. 2 to Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026

For the kiddos, take part in Wheatley Provincial Park’s annual trick-or-treating event. Decorate your site and explore the park in its spookiest season.

When: Oct. 10, 2026

There’s lots going on at Bronte Creek Provincial Park this season.

Whether you’re decorating your campsite, dressing up, or taking part in discovery programs, you’re in for a real treat — no tricks here.

More details will be released closer to the dates.

When: Oct. 16 to 18 and Oct. 23 to 25, 2026

Ontario Parks welcomes all to camp at Fitzroy for the inaugural Pumpkins in the Park Weekend.

“Prizes will be awarded for the most haunted campsite, best carved pumpkin, and spooky costume,” shares the park.

When: Oct. 23 to 25, 2026

Algonquin is going all in with the spooky season. Staff will run guided hikes and special programming like the Friday night walk.

Spooky costumes and campsite decorating contest at Mew Lake Campground — it’s going to be fun. Check for more updates closer to the dates.

When: Oct 24 to 26, 2026

Each park visit is subject to regular admission fees. And it’s important to note that if you decorate your campsite for Halloween this year, respect the natural environment of the park. It’s important to remember to remove all your decorations and litter when festivities are over.

And there you have it! We’re only a few days into September, but we truly can’t wait for the season of Halloween.
