Edmonton is home to some amazing bakeries all across the city; from classic French patisseries to community-driven Italian spots, you can really find it all.

We’ve rounded up some of the best bakeries in the city for you to check out. It doesn’t matter if you’re in search of a pastry, a loaf of bread to complete your meal, or a sweet treat to satiate your appetite; these spots are perfect for fixing a craving of any sort.

Duchess has been Edmonton’s premier French bakery since 2009, serving classic French macarons, croissants, tarts, cakes, and éclairs. Not only does it serve pastries with gourmet ingredients, but it also sells those ingredients at its provisions shop attached to its bakery.

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Saturday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays

This Edmonton bakery has been a staple in the neighbourhood for many years after being established in 1960. Italian Bakery offers breads, pastries, and sandwiches, and is the go-to place for anything and everything Italian.

If you find yourself craving a cannoli with espresso or fresh Italian cookies, this is definitely the spot.

7 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Saturday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays

True to its name, this place has some spectacular high-end cakes. Offering artisan baking, this local bakery has more than just its popular cakes; it also has cupcakes, cookies, pies, tarts, and more. It’s open every day except Monday, so there’s always time for a treat.

10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Tuesday to Thursday; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays

This bakery is home to a ton of bread, baked goods, cake, and cookie varieties. You’ll also find a whole bunch of seasonal goodies depending on the time of year. For this September, you can check out their Chausson aux Pommes, a French take on the classic apple turnover, or the Pear and Fig Brown Butter Tart made with fresh British Columbia pears.

According to its website, Hong Kong Bakery originally opened in Alberta in 1977. It’s been serving the Chinatown community within the city for decades now, and continues to be a go-to spot for many.

Here, you’ll find this family business serving up authentic Chinese and Hong Kong-style pastries and buns, as well as some European-style baked goods.

Dutch Delicious is a fine Dutch bakery and European delicatessen where you’ll be able to find breads, buns, cakes, cookies, and imported Dutch products you likely won’t find anywhere else in the city. If you’re looking for a reliable bakery with some unique eats, this is one to check out.
