Calgary’s last 8 p.m. sunset is coming up sooner than you think

27 August 20252 Mins Read

Get ready for some serious summertime sadness. The summer of ’25 is over, and the days are officially getting shorter starting Sept. 10.

It’s been a rainy summer and also one of the hottest on record for the City of Calgary. But that doesn’t mean we’re ready for it all to be over (definitely not).

Still, you’ll have until Sept. 10 to enjoy the last of those long summer nights before the evenings start officially getting shorter.

According to Time and Date, Calgary citizens can enjoy an 8 p.m. or later sunset until Wednesday, Sept. 10, when the local sunset time is exactly 8 p.m.

After the 10th, the sun will start setting at 7:58 p.m., until it eventually reaches 7 p.m. on Oct. 6. But don’t worry, we still have until Sunday, Nov. 2, before things officially “fall back” for Daylight Saving Time.

That gives you exactly two weeks to enjoy the last of the summer sunsets before the weather starts taking a turn for the worse.

If you’re looking for somewhere to spend the last 8 p.m. Calgary sunset in style, might we suggest a few of the city’s most scenic walks?

You can also opt to head to one of Calgary’s rooftop patios to enjoy the last of the sunshine with a cocktail in hand.

Prepare yourself, Calgary. Winter is coming.
