How to evolve Galarian Farfetch’d in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Galarian Farfetch’d requires a special condition to evolve into Sirfetch’d. It’ll need to land multiple critical hits in a single battle, but because of Legend: Z-A‘s real-time battle mechanics, what constitutes as a single battle isn’t immediately clear.

Galarian Farfetch’d was added to Pokémon Legends: Z-A in the Hyperspace Pokédex as part of the Mega Dimension DLC. If you don’t have the DLC, a willing trainer can always trade you the Pokémon if you want to use it in the base game.

How to evolve Galarian Farfetch’d into Sirfetch’d in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Galarian Farfetch’d needs to land three critical hits in a single battle. Though, with the way Pokémon Legends: Z-A‘s real-time battle mechanics work and how you can battle several Pokémon at once, these critical hits don’t need to be all against the same opponent. As long as the red banner with the exclamation point remains at the top of your screen, you’ll be in the same single combat encounter, whether you’re battling a trainer or wild Pokémon.

Here are some example scenarios that would make your Galarian Farfetch’d able to evolve:

• Galarian Farfetch’d lands three critical hits on the same Pokémon.
• Galarian Farfetch’d lands a single critical hit on three separate Pokémon in the same encounter.
• Galarian Farfetch’d lands a critical hit on two separate Pokémon at once with a single move and a critical hit on another Pokémon in the same encounter.
• Galarian Farfetch’d lands two critical hits on one Pokémon and one critical hit on another Pokémon in the same encounter.

Keep in mind that if you lose a battle or knock out Pokémon and end the combat encounter, you’ll have to start landing critical hits anew. Once your Galarian Farfetch’d lands the required hits, open your menu and you’ll see the arrow indicating your stalk-wielding little dude is all set to evolve.

How to land a critical hit with Galarian Farfetch’d in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Critical are rarer than normal hits. As they’re essential for evolving Galarian Farfetch’d, you’ll likely want to boost your chances to land them in battle. There are a couple of items that will let you do so.

The Scope Lens held item will boost the holder’s critical hit ratio, giving them a better chance of landing those much-needed hits. You can purchase one from the vendor on the right inside Racine Construction. Completing Side Mission 54 (unlocked after Main Mission 19) will also reward you with a Scope Lens. The Side Mission can be found at Quasartico Inc. in the Magenta District.

Mega Dimension also adds the Leek held item, which acts similarly in that it ups the critical hit ratio for the Farfetch’d who wields it. After finishing Hyperspace Mission 3, Side Mission 133 will unlock. Travel to the Pokémon Center on the outskirts of the east side of Lumiose, at the intersection of North Boulevard and Jaune Street, right by the bottom right corner of Wild Zone 19.

The berry vendor next to the Pokémon Center will have the mission for you. The best part? You don’t have to finish the side mission to get the Leek — he’ll just hand it to you as part of initiating the side mission. You can also buy additional Leeks from the vendor for $1,000.

Give either the Scope Lens or Leek to your Galarian Farfetch’d to hold, and it’ll rack up crticial hits in no time.
