Sigríður Margrét Oddsdóttir will assume the role of CEO at Blue Lagoon on March 16, 2026, following the resignation of Grímur Sæmundsen.
Blue Lagoon has announced that Sigríður Margrét Oddsdóttir will take over as CEO effective March 16, 2026. The current CEO, Grímur Sæmundsen, will step down from his role but will remain involved with the company by joining its board of directors at the next annual general meeting.
The company, which employs approximately 800 people, operates a range of tourism and hospitality services in Iceland. Its operations include the Blue Lagoon destination and related activities in Reykjanes, such as The Retreat and Silica Hotel. Blue Lagoon also owns and operates Highland Base in Kerlingarfjöll and is constructing a bathing resort, hotel, and comprehensive tourism services in Þjórsárdalur. Additionally, the company is preparing to develop Hoffell in Hornafjörður.
Blue Lagoon holds stakes in several other Icelandic bathing facilities, including Fontana at Laugarvatn, Jarðböð at Mývatn, Sjóböð in Húsavík, and Vök in Egilsstaðir. The company has also developed Blue Lagoon Skincare, which is expanding its reach internationally.
