Although we’re only a few weeks into 2026, Parks Canada is planning for its summer season. One of Canada’s best employers, according to Forbes, is looking for students and temporary staff to support its operations across the country. Think you have what it takes? Keep on reading!

Do you consider yourself an “energetic and enthusiastic” individual? Well, Parks Canada wants you. “With a vast network of national parks, historic sites, and marine conservation areas, you will work in some of the most beautiful and culturally significant places in the country, while playing a key role in preserving the environment and Canadian heritage,” adds Parks Canada.

Each year, Parks Canada employs students and temporary workers across a variety of diverse job areas, including:

• Cleaning
• Computing and data management
• Engineering
• Environmental conservation, restoration, and management
• Event planning
• Finance and accounting
• Fire team crew
• Gate attendance and cashier services
• General administration and clerical
• General labour and maintenance
• Heritage presentation and interpretation
• Human resources
• Indigenous relations and history
• Information management, library, and archives
• Learn-to Camp
• Lifeguarding
• Lock and bridge operation
• Marketing and communications
• Multimedia creation (i.e., video, animation, Web, mobile applications)
• Portfolio, policy, and planning analysis
• Research and analytics
• Security and law enforcement
• Site and campground services
• Skilled trades
• Supply chain
• Trail crew
• Web content and social media

Compensation

Depending on the job you land, compensation and work hours will differ.

According to Parks Canada, student positions are remunerated according to their level of study. Pay ranges between $17.75 and $28 per hour.

Some entry-level seasonal roles may offer up to $30 per hour, too.

Specific pay rates will be communicated when employment offers are discussed.

Ready to take the next step? To apply for a position, you have to create an account on the Parks Canada page and share details about yourself. This includes language proficiency and education.

You then upload your resume and select up to 10 preferred work locations and job types. You have until March 1, 2026, but Parks Canada suggests applying sooner rather than later, as applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
