All The New Movies & Series Coming This Year

From WWII dramas and high-stakes thrillers to chaotic dinner parties and the return of Love is Blind, here is your guide to the Swedish titles coming to Netflix in 2026.

Netflix has found a happy home in the Nordics. Over the past few years, Sweden has delivered some of the platform’s most binge-able international hits (think Young Royals, Snabba Cash, and A Nearly Normal Family).

If the latest announcements are anything to go by, 2026 is shaping up to be another banner year. We have word on at least nine new titles set to drop over the next 12 months, featuring heavy hitters like Fares Fares, Josephine Bornebusch, and Jakob Oftebro.

Here is a breakdown of the new Swedish movies and series coming to Netflix in 2026.

Note: This list wasn’t provided by Netflix; it was sourced from MovieZine. While Netflix did host a Nordic slate preview, our understanding is that it won’t be shared publicly.

The Swedish Connection (Den svenska länken)

Type: Movie
Release Date: February 19th, 2026

Kicking things off early in the year is a historical drama based on true events. While we’re used to seeing Henrik Dorsin and Johan Glans in comedic roles, they are taking a serious turn here.

The story follows a small group of Swedish bureaucrats during World War II who risk everything to hide Jews from the Nazis. Joining the cast are Sissela Benn, Marianne Mörck, and a frequent star in Netflix titles from the region, Jonas Karlsson.

Je M’Appelle Agneta

Type: Movie
Release Window: Spring 2026

Based on the popular novel, this feel-good drama stars the brilliant Eva Melander (Border) as Agneta.

At 49, Agneta is tired of her mundane life and decides to leave the safety of Sweden for a grand adventure. She accepts a job as an au pair for a “Swedish boy” in France. Upon arrival, however, the “boy” turns out to be an eccentric elderly gentleman named Einar, played by Claes Månsson. An unexpected friendship ensues. The cast also includes Björn Kjellman, Richard Forsgren, Anne-Marie Ponsot, and Jérémie Covillault.

The Åre Murders (Åremorden) – Season 2

Type: Series
Release Window: 2026

Pack your skis and your alibis. Based on Viveca Sten’s wildly popular book series, The Åre Murders returns for a second season. The premise combines two things Swedes love most: ski vacations and murder mysteries. In Season 2, we return to the snowy peaks of Åre where more bodies are piling up. Carla Sehn and Kardo Razzazi are back on the case with production having kicked off at the top of the year, suggesting a late 2026 return.

Bytet

Type: Series
Release Window: 2026

If The Holiday was a psychological thriller, it might look something like Bytet.

Based on the novel by Stefan Ahnhem, the story follows two married couples—one in Stockholm, one in Sicily—who are bored with their lives and decide to swap houses for the summer. Stockholm residents Carl and Helene head to Italy, while Adam and Scarlett take on the Stockholm archipelago.

Neither couple finds peace in their new surroundings as dark secrets begin to unravel on both ends. The series boasts a stellar international cast including Fares Fares (Chernobyl, Westworld), Emma Appleton (The Witcher), Frida Gustavsson (Vikings: Valhalla), and Jakob Oftebro.

The Case

Type: Series
Release Window: Fall 2026

This one comes with a serious pedigree. The Case is created by George Kay, the mastermind behind global hits Lupin and Hijack.

The series follows decorated investigator Thomas Berg as he hunts “one of the worst serial killers Sweden has ever tracked.” The stakes are personal, as the killer specifically targets Thomas’s police colleagues. Desperate, Thomas turns to his estranged father, a former top cop, for help.

Jakob Oftebro takes the lead here (making it a busy year for him), starring alongside Peter Andersson, Electra Hallman, and Alexander Abdallah (Snabba Cash).

Christmas Switch

Type: Movie
Release Window: Late 2026

It seems “swapping lives” is the theme for Netflix Sweden this year. In this romantic comedy, real-life sisters Happy Jankell and Felice Jankell play on-screen sisters who trade their very different lives just before Christmas.

Based on the audiobook Jul i Sankt Anna by Eleonor Sager, the film is directed by Adam Pålsson (Young Wallander). While Netflix has only confirmed a “2026” window, we’re going to go out on a limb and predict a December release for this one.

The Storm

Type: Movie
Release Window: 2026

Josephine Bornebusch (Baby Reindeer, Love & Anarchy) writes, directs, and stars in this tense chamber drama.

The plot centers on Filip, who invites his closest friends to his new manor house in northern Sweden to celebrate his 45th birthday. When a severe storm hits, the guests are trapped inside, and buried secrets begin to bubble to the surface.

The ensemble cast is stacked: Gustaf Skarsgård (Vikings, Oppenheimer), Aliette Opheim, Filip Berg, Johan Rheborg, Henrik Dorsin, Gizem Erdogan, and Jonas Karlsson.

Trustor

Type: Documentary
Release Window: 2026

Karin Af KlintbergKarin Af Klintberg

Director Karin af Klintberg dives into the “Trustor Affair,” one of Sweden’s most infamous financial scandals. The documentary examines the fraud and corporate looting orchestrated by a group of Swedish financiers and a British nobleman in the late 90s.

Love is Blind: Sweden – Season 3

Type: Reality Series
Release Window: 2026

The pods are open once again. Jessica Almenäs returns to host the third season of the Swedish iteration of the global dating experiment. You know the drill: singles date without seeing each other, get engaged, and try to make it down the aisle without their families (or the drama) getting in the way.
