Mandarin Oriental will manage two renovated hotels in Luxor and Aswan and introduce a Nile river cruise, all scheduled to open in 2027.
Mandarin Oriental will expand its presence in Egypt by managing two historic hotels in Luxor and Aswan and launching its first Nile river cruise, with all developments scheduled to open in 2027.
The company will assume management of the Old Cataract hotel in Aswan from May 2026. The property will undergo a comprehensive renovation of its Nile Wing, with the entire hotel expected to reopen as Mandarin Oriental Old Cataract, Aswan, in July 2027. The hotel will continue operations in its heritage building during the renovation. Upon completion, the property will offer rooms and suites, six dining venues, a spa, and event spaces.
In Luxor, Mandarin Oriental will take over management of the Winter Palace hotel, which will close in early 2026 for a complete restoration. The hotel is scheduled to reopen in July 2027 as Mandarin Oriental Winter Palace, Luxor. The property will feature rooms and suites, six dining venues, a spa, gardens, and event spaces. Both hotels are located near significant historical sites, including the Temple of Khnum in Aswan and the Temple of Luxor.
The hotels are being developed in partnership with Talaat Moustafa Group (TMG) Holding.
Mandarin Oriental will also introduce its first Nile river cruise, developed and owned by K.G. Company for Real Estate and Tourism Investment, part of the Garranah Group, and operated in partnership with Mandarin Oriental. The cruise will operate between Luxor and Aswan, offering three, four, and seven-night itineraries. The vessel is currently in design and will include suites, three dining venues, a wellness space, and cultural programming, including expert-led talks and guided excursions.
The forthcoming Mandarin Oriental Shepheard, Cairo, scheduled to reopen in 2027, will complement the new hotels and cruise offerings, forming an integrated travel offering across Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan.
