It’s been five years since The Chesnut Man, and the long wait for its sequel season, The Chesnut Man: Hide and Seek, is almost over! The six-part series is coming to Netflix on May 7, 2026, with Mikkel Boe Følsgaard and Danica Čurčić returning as Mark Hess and Naia Thulin. Here’s everything we know about The Chesnut Man: Hide and Seek.

The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek is an upcoming Danish Netflix Original crime-thriller series and the sequel season to the 2021 Danish drama The Chestnut Man. The series is directed by Roni Ezra and written by Dorte W. Høgh and Emilie Lebech Kaae, who have adapted Søren Sveistrup’s novel Hide and Seek for television.

Producing the series is Morten Kjems Hytten Juhl and Stine Meldgaard Madsen, with production company SAM Productions. Meta Louise Foldager Sørensen is the executive producer.

When is The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek Netflix release date?

In a press release, Netflix confirmed that The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek will be released on May 7, 2026.

A teaser trailer for the series has been released on the Netflix Nordic YouTube channel.

What is the plot of The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek?

Netflix has provided a detailed synopsis for The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek:

“A 41-year-old woman is reported missing, and when the police unravel her digital footprints, it becomes evident that she has been stalked for months. An unidentified perpetrator has been playing an involuntary game of hide and seek, surveilling her while sending her not only images and videos but also a seemingly innocent nursery rhyme-style counting song. When the woman is later found murdered, it becomes evident that this case can be linked to a similar, unsolved murder case of a 17-year-old high school student who was found murdered two years ago. But what is the connection between the two victims? And when will the perpetrator begin to “play” hide and seek again?”
