Princess Cruises has released details of its 2027–28 South America season, to be operated by Majestic Princess. The season runs from October 2027 through January 2028 and includes six departures across four itineraries ranging from 15 to 37 days. The itineraries are designed to provide extended time ashore in various cities and scenic cruising in regions such as Patagonia.
The season begins in October 2027 with a 37-day South America Passage Grand Adventure departing from Southampton (London), with stops in Lisbon, the Canary Islands, Rio de Janeiro, and Montevideo before concluding in San Antonio (Santiago). Additional itineraries include a 15-day Cape Horn & Glaciers of Patagonia voyage between Buenos Aires, Argentina, and San Antonio (Santiago), Chile, and a 17-day Antarctica & South America voyage round-trip from Buenos Aires, which includes overnight experiences in the Antarctic Peninsula.
Two combined land-and-sea cruise tours are also available. The Machu Picchu Explorer includes a six-night land program visiting Lima, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, and Cusco, Peru, as a pre- or post-cruise option. The Iguazu Falls Adventure offers a five-night land program visiting Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, also available pre- or post-cruise.
The program covers 19 destinations in eight countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay, and provides access to 15 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Notable sites include Peninsula Valdés Patagonian Nature Reserve, accessible from Puerto Madryn, and the Carioca Landscapes between the Mountain and the Sea in Rio de Janeiro, including Copacabana Beach and Christ the Redeemer. Every sailing features overnight stays in Buenos Aires, with late-night port calls scheduled in Lisbon, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Rio de Janeiro, and Ushuaia.
Scenic cruising highlights include the Beagle Channel Fjords and Glacier Alley, featuring views of hanging and tidewater glaciers from the Darwin Mountain Range. The Antarctic Peninsula itinerary allows extended time for wildlife viewing and observation of glacier-filled landscapes.
Wildlife viewing opportunities include the Falkland Islands (Stanley), where around one million penguins nest annually, and areas such as Beagle Channel, Glacier Alley, and Antarctic waters, where whales, porpoises, leopard seals, sea birds, and other penguin species may be observed. Landscapes visited during the season include the Gerlache Strait, Elephant Island, and the South Shetland Islands in Antarctica; the Corcovado and Sugarloaf Mountains in Rio de Janeiro; and the Beagle Channel Fjords, Glacier Alley, Tierra del Fuego, Cape Horn, and Drake’s Passage in Chile and Argentina.
Onboard programming includes destination-specific events such as Argentine folkloric music, regional cuisine, and a Carnival festival celebration with samba dancers and interactive classes. Enrichment speakers will include Antarctic destination experts, naturalists, historians, and storytellers. While cruising the Antarctic Peninsula, onboard naturalists will guide wildlife viewing and share regional history.
Shore excursions include the Local Connections: Fishing Village, King Crab & Gourmet Experience.
