Netflix Sets ‘The Lords’ Day’ Series Adaptation with Damson Idris To Star

Netflix is assembling a powerhouse team for its next major British thriller. What’s on Netflix has exclusively learned that Damson Idris (Snowfall, F1) is set to star in and executive produce The Lords’ Day, a political action-thriller based on the novel by House of Cards author Michael Dobbs.

If the name Michael Dobbs sounds familiar, it should. He is the author behind House of Cards, the novel that spawned the iconic BBC miniseries and, of course, Netflix’s very first flagship original series. Now, Netflix is dipping back into the Dobbs library for what promises to be an explosive, fast-paced ride through the halls of Westminster.

The 6-part series is being produced by Bad Wolf, the acclaimed UK production powerhouse behind massive global hits like Doctor Who, His Dark Materials, and Industry.

What is The Lords’ Day about?

While the original Michael Dobbs novel focuses on a massive hostage siege taking place during the State Opening of Parliament, the Netflix adaptation is turning up the dial on the action, centering the story around a lone-wolf protagonist.

Here is the official synopsis for the series:

“On the State Opening of Parliament, British spy Harry Jones (Damson Idris) finds himself inside the iconic building amidst a lockdown. As the siege escalates, loyalties are tested and selfless sacrifices are made, leading to a desperate fight for survival where not everyone will emerge alive. Can Harry use his skills and training to be the country’s savior? Adapted from a novel by Michael Dobbs (House of Cards), this is a fast-paced action thriller set at the heart of British power.”

Who is behind The Lords’ Day?

The series has locked in a stellar creative team both in front of and behind the camera.

Leading the series is Damson Idris, who will play British spy Harry Jones. Idris is best known for his breakout role as Franklin Saint in FX’s Snowfall, and starred alongside Brad Pitt in the Oscar-nominated movie F1. Idris will also serve as an executive producer on the series.

The writing team is led by Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley, who will serve as lead writers and executive producers. The duo are British TV royalty, having previously penned hit thrillers like Spooks, Humans, and Better.

Directing and executive producing the series is Ben Chanan, whose masterful tension-building was seen in the hit surveillance thriller The Capture and The Missing.

For Bad Wolf, television titans Jane Tranter and Dan McCulloch will executive produce. They are joined by executive producer Joel Collins and producer Chris May.

What is the production status of The Lords’ Day?

The project is currently in active pre-production.

Filming is scheduled to get underway in Spring 2026 in the United Kingdom. As a Bad Wolf production, we expect filming to be based out of their state-of-the-art Wolf Studios Wales facility in Cardiff, which has housed some of the UK’s most ambitious television builds.
