PlayStation Plus subscribers’ free Essential games for April 2026 are Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, and Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced Wednesday. Players can download the trio of PlayStation games beginning Tuesday, April 7.
Lords of the Fallen is the 2023 action role-playing game — not the 2014 game of the same name — from developer Hexworks and publisher CI Games that casts players as a Dark Crusader who must journey through the realms of the living and the dead to defeat Adyr, a cruel tyrant who has devastated humanity. In our review of the game, we had mixed feelings about Hexworks’ Soulslike, calling Lords of the Fallen carefully crafted in terms of pacing and challenge, but needlessly restraining at times. Lords of the Fallen will be available on PlayStation 5.
Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered brings together Lara Croft’s first three action-adventure games in a beautifully repackaged collection. We praised Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics’ remastering efforts in our review, highlighting the games’ improved visuals, modernized (optional) controls, and classic level designs. Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered will be available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream is the latest entry in the Sword Art Online franchise, developed by
Dimps Corporation and published by Bandai Namco. The multiplayer action-RPG boasts 21 playable characters from various arcs of Sword Art Online, who can gather in online co-op to take down powerful bosses. Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream will be available on PS5.
April 2026’s PS Plus Essential games will be available for download through May 4.
PS Plus subscribers can still pick up March 2026’s PlayStation Plus Essential games — PGA Tour 2K25, Monster Hunter Rise, Slime Rancher 2, The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Gold Road — through April 6.
PlayStation Plus Essential is the lowest tier of Sony’s subscription game service. It offers online multiplayer access, a monthly assortment of free PS4 and PS5 games, cloud storage, and discounts on PlayStation Store purchases. PlayStation Plus Essential costs $79.99 annually, $24.99 for a three-month subscription, or $9.99 monthly.
